The blocks are all that is required. They'll end up in your bandsaw's assembly.
Since I'm primarily sawing turning blanks for bowls and the like, I use cool blocks on my 14" Delta bandsaw; they work well in this situation because they don't clog up as easily as bearing type guide blocks.
There are four blocks in total. One is angled for the lower blade guide, and both are very effective. Simply keep an eye on how tight the set screws are being tightened. They aren't made of steel, by the way. When it comes to setting them up, as well. They should be positioned just behind the cutting teeth of the blade. If you "pinch" the cutting teeth, you'll get a better result. The front edges of the guides will be widened, but the blade will still wander. I hope this information is helpful and clear.
The thrust action is provided by one of the blocks (below the table). All of the other guides sit square to the blade and prevent deflection.

I realize that 3/64 is a minor difference from the 12" blocks supplied by Delta. br>Because of the limited access to the guides on my Delta 14 X bandsaw, it's impossible to keep the ends of the blocks parallel to the blade. The reason for the low rating is the additional effort required to install them. br>I modified an old copper dado blade shim to get a nice sliding fit, and they work fine. br>The reason for the low rating is the additional effort required to install them. How much more effort would it take for the manufacturer to make a standard-sized bandsaw for them?.
After years of relying on metal blocks for my 50-year-old Delta, I came across these. This is fantastic. I saw a video on youtube where the guy simply said to run them in contact with the blade, use some wax on the blade, and don't overheat, and it turned out to be correct. Without a doubt, it's like a whole new saw now. White plastic circle table inserts from Peachtree were also purchased. After watching the YouTube videos, I finally have a saw that cuts square, has no wobbles, and a better finish, all with the same old Bosch 3/8 blade that I've had for years. This is something I should've done a long time ago. I'd choose these blocks over ball bearing side guide wheels because they're so much more expensive to retrofit and I honestly don't see how they'd be any better. This is actually preferable because even if these come into contact with the blade teeth (oops), they should not cause any damage. I was blown away.
A band saw setup would not be complete without blocks. This item is supposed to fit my Delta 14", which it does. The blocks aren't quite 1/2", but they're close. 4685". This isn't a huge difference, but it's significant enough to make squareing in the guide holder difficult. The blocks shift out of square as the set screws are tightened. I didn't notice until I looked at the 1 star ratings that this was mentioned in the reviews. In advertising, there must be truth.
Allow me to be completely candid right now. I've only had these cool blocks for about a week, so my opinion may change as I gain more experience with them. Having said that, these were incredibly simple to set up. The first thing I noticed about these interesting blocks is how light they are. There is no weight difference between these and my original steel guides. These will also work with my Delta 28-inch bandsaw. 278 14 is an excellent score. br>I've included a few photos of these cool blocks in action on my bandsaw. br>If I discover anything unusual or negative about these cool blocks, I will revise my review.
Because of the heat, I use a lot of e 1/8" blades, which usually snap after a few hours of use. For the past two weeks, I've been using the same blade with no issues. When the blocks start to wear down, you can sand them flat. These are highly recommended for anyone who uses a bandsaw.
These blocks do not meet the required dimensions. They aren't big enough. I got rid of them and replaced them with ceramic blocks.
"It's incredible. " These fantastic blocks are incredible. I had no problems with the blade getting too hot while resawing 6 in pine by 4ft. I used a 3/4-inch Olson blade and a three-prong Olson blade. Blade with four skip teeth per inch.
Because my local big box stores only carry Bosch bandsaw blades, I have to order them online; my favorite is the Highland Woodworking Woodslicer, but it's about twice as expensive as an Olson blade. The Olson blade does the job, but it's nothing to write home about.
