Questions & Answers

It's stated that they're 1/4 inch thick. Do they, on the other hand, take measurements? Hundreds of thousands?

A quarter of an inch is equal to 250.

On the 1541, the product details show three flutes, whereas the original photo shows two flutes. The three flute 2 oal bit is appealing to me. ?

For whatever reason, everyone appears to have the illustration on this bit placed incorrectly. This bit (the Whiteside 1541) is a solid carbide v-shaped bit with a 1/4-inch diameter. three-fluted grove bit The illustration of a 1/4" shank, approx 1/2" diameter carbide "tipped" cutter is incorrect, and you will not receive this item if you order it. I've ordered this several times and have always received the correct item, and Edge of Arlington is a great supplier with prompt delivery. You're not going to be let down.

Is a three-flute V-neck better than a two-flute V-neck? Is it possible to get some wood?

Cleaner cuts, fewer wood tearouts, and fewer splinters are all advantages of using a three-flute saw. When I engrave names, I frequently use it. When compared to cuts made with two flutes, the text is easier to read.

Is it possible to use this in a cordless handheld router? I'm buying for my husband and this is my first time. Is it a Ryobi cordless router with a 1/4-inch shank?

Any router with a 1/4" shank will be able to use it. However, this bit is primarily intended for use with a CNC router to engrave.

You should not base your purchase on the display photo
5/5

If you're unsure if this is the right bit, don't look at the photo. The photo on the manufacturer's website is also incorrect; however, the descriptions are correct. The Whiteside 1541 is a solid carbide 60° V-shaped blade. a 1/4" diameter groove bit with a 1/4" shank and a 3-inch length Cutting point with a flute. This is a router bit that I purchased. It excels at carving wood signs. The tool has a razor-sharp edge that has held up well over time. It's a fantastic deal!.

CNC is a tough and capable machine
5/5

This bit was used to replace a 60 degree v-shaped drill bit. The tip of the bit was constantly breaking off. It functioned perfectly for the entire 12-hour period. 4x8 sheets of 1/16" thick fir plywood. After that, a jeweler's loupe was used to examine the tip and cutting edge, which revealed it to be almost brand new. This is a great product for engraving and projects that require a v-shaped cut. The groove bit is about to snap.

The Whiteside Piano Keyboard Cutting Board was no exception
5/5

Let me show you how I put it to use. For my music teacher brother's birthday, I was making a fairly complicated cutting board. A thin shadow would be created by gluing a layer of ebony veneer between each key. I ordered several ebony veneer orders and had to return them because they were not uniformly black. So, instead of sticking to the plan, I decided to vein the black walnut and hard maple keys' surfaces, then use an old ink pen to apply ebony stain to the veins. I was able to lay the stain about 1/32nd of an inch deep using the 60 degree angle on the bit, resulting in crisp black lines just beneath the surface. I then sanded the excess epoxy off the surface after covering the lines with epoxy resin. It was a total success. This board, by the way, was designed for display purposes only, not for cutting food.

It's called Whiteside, and it's effective! It's called Whiteside, and it's effective! I'm not one to get out the caliper and measure down to the 1/millionth of an inch for accuracy because I'm not cutting wood or making rocket parts for NASA, so I can't speak to nth degree accuracy, but the bit does what it's supposed to do
5/5

It takes flat stock and turns it into something you've designed, and it does a good job at it.

Excellent bit that stays sharp for a long time and cuts well
5/5

These bits are fantastic; they stay sharp for a long time when used on my CNC, and they are inexpensive. I used one for 6 months and it was still cutting well, so I bought another when it seemed like it was time to replace it. However, it wasn't necessary. Everyone seems to be buying the Amana bit with replacement carbide inserts these days; they're a lot of money up front, and replacement inserts are almost as much. I highly recommend this bit for v carving.

A Whiteside router bot is yet another excellent purchase
5/5

This is the bit I bought to make V- My CNC router has performed admirably in carving cuts. So far, I've cut around 47 walnut trays with the V-shaped cutter. This bit can be used to carve designs and it retains its sharpness. This bit is something I would recommend to anyone who owns a CNC router.

It's not a 60-degree angle
3/5

I've bought a couple of Whiteside bits and they've never let me down. Bits of utterly deplorable quality. I've given them far too many opportunities to do well. They are consistently outperformed by Chinese-made bits that are less expensive.

This cutter performs flawlessly when doing some V-cutting at a reasonable price
5/5

MDF and oak carvings I also used it on some acrylic, but realized that it wasn't the right kind of acrylic for machining, so I expect the bit to work well with cast acrylic rather than the extruded I was using.
