The travel of the Kreg Precision Router Lift will be three inches. Bit changes will be possible above the table as a result of this.
Yes, 1617 is a perfect match. Simply ensure that you adhere to the instructions. To put it another way, loosen the collar completely first, then insert the clamp bolts at position 5 on all four clamps, then slide the 1617 in, pull it 1/16" up from the stop, and tighten the collar with the lift wrench.
We haven't tried the system on the Craftsman 1749, unfortunately. However, it should still work if the motor diameter is one of the following: 218", 3. 267", 3. 32", 3. 5", 3. 625", 3. 675", 4. 143" as well as 4 2".

I built a router table with Kreg PRS5000 lifts and Kreg Levelers in mind. The router arrived in perfect condition and was a perfect fit for my table. It appeared to be in good condition. made and functioned as expected My joy was short-lived, however, as I began the installation of my new Bosch router. "Loosen the motor with the crank," the manual says. "Clamp the carriage screw and spread it out slightly. " In my case, a slight carriage spread was insufficient. It took a lot of force. I was eventually able to get the motor to fit. The lift began to move smoothly, but then became stuck in a couple of discrete movements. After I removed the router, the video shows how things worked. A replacement has been ordered. I'm hoping it works out. Replacement has arrived. br>br> Initial testing indicates that my Bosch router will not work with this one as well. I decided not to proceed with my router and instead investigate whether or not there was a problem with it. I took it to our neighborhood hardware store to put it to the test against another Bosch router motor on display. It also didn't seem right.
Because I have a Kreg router table top, it's logical to assume that the Kreg Router Lift would easily replace the insert plate that came with it. No Joy! The router lift's metal insert plate is about 1/16" (or 1/32") longer than the insert plate I removed. Ironically, to get the new insert plate to fit, I had to use my router to trim a hair off each side of the opening.
When I was researching this to see if I should buy it, I came across directly contradictory information about whether or not this lift would fit a Bosch 1617 router motor. I purchased it and installed a Bosch 1617 router motor that perfectly fits. I also own a Bosch 1617evspk plunge router that I use for hand-held plunge routing. If you follow the installation instructions for the base model 1617, that motor, which is a different model with variable speed control and more horsepower, will not fit properly. If you choose one of the mounting patterns with a slightly larger diameter and close the clamp, the 1617evspk will fit. Those who couldn't figure it out on their own hoped to receive this excellent piece of equipment as a gift, as it was fairly obvious.
My Kreg router table benefitted greatly from the addition of the Kreg PRS5000 Precision Router Lift. There will be no more fumbling with the router body to get the desired router bit height. The lift was simple to set up and perfectly fit the Hitachi M12VC I use on my table. The design incorporates the ability to adjust the lift to fit a variety of routers, making it simple to attach a variety of routers to the lift without having to drill new holes, purchase fittings, or attach them. The lifting action is very smooth and precise. It's very simple to adjust your bit's precious height. The only disadvantage is that when using the beaded face frame system, the fence prevents access to the key lift control. It's no longer an issue because I adjusted my bit height before putting up the fence. For your router table, this is a must-have accessory.
I have a Bosch 1617 router motor that will not fit in the clamping mechanism (setting 5) without prying it apart, making removal from the lift impossible without removing the lift from my table entirely. Because I own other Kreg products that are extremely well-made, I will most likely return this to Amazon and purchase a lift that fits properly. Bummer!.
Before you buy, double-check that it will fit you. Before you buy, double-check that this will work with your router. I have a fairly new Bosch router that I assumed would fit, but it did not, so I had to go out and purchase another. It bothered me that I had to spend the extra money on a new router, but I suppose I should've checked before buying. I would have looked at other lifts such as Incra Etc if I had known it wouldn't fit. In terms of the Lift itself, it is of good quality. Because there were no mounting screws in the box, I had to go out and buy four nuts and bolts. A blank plate for when you aren't using the lift, as well as a Kreg sticker, are two things that Kreg should consider. This is something I would strongly suggest to a friend. All of Kreg's tools are fantastic in my opinion. I'm looking forward to putting it to good use!.
But for two things, it would have been a five. It's so tight on my Bosch 1617EVS that I had to pry the lifter housing open to get the router body in (which was a little nerve-wracking because I didn't know if I'd break the lifter housing or not). The Micro-Crank handle does not fit. The carriage lock just barely fits the adjustment dial (the crank will need to be machined down slightly to make it work properly).
It enables the router to be raised high enough to change bits from above, and the lift mechanism is extremely smooth and precise. To get the exact cut you want, simply adjust the cutter height in 128th increments.
