Purchasing something on the cheap is not always a good idea. You should throw frugality out the window and use common sense when purchasing certain items. Cheap parts result in cheap products, and the cost of a product is directly proportional to its longevity and dependability. If you only plan on using something a few times, you might be able to get away with buying something cheap. However, if you care about the quality of your work, cutting corners isn't an option. br>br>With that in mind, this Rabbeting bit, as well as the bearings, are not inexpensive. I've already scheduled four speakers for recesses, with another 16 scheduled for tomorrow. This is a high-quality, long-lasting set, and I have no regrets about spending the extra money on it. Nothing irritates me more than relying on a tool and having it fail you in the middle of a project, which is why my forehead is flat [my palm smacks my head]. br>br>An excellent collection.
Two different washers are included with the multi-depth bit with interchangeable bearings. One for the 5/16" and 3/8" bearings, and the other for the 7/16" and 1/2" bearings. You must ensure that you do not use the incorrect washer, or the locking screw will not fit properly. br>br>Also, for most woodworkers (I admit I had a brain fart), this is probably common sense. The cut is smaller when the bearing is larger. So, if you want to make a 3/8" rabbet, the second largest bearing is required. If you don't know what you're doing, it may seem counterintuitive. br>br>In any case, this thing cuts really well. Bit has a lot of bite to it. Spending a little more on Freud, in my opinion, is worthwhile. Every Freud bit I've ever bought has resulted in fantastic cuts. br>br>I highly recommend!.
Except for the flush bearing, I was mostly satisfied with this product, which is why I only gave it two stars in my review. The provided screw is insufficient to secure the flush bearing to the cutter. I called Sigmund Freud and explained the situation, and they seemed to comprehend it. Freud sent me about 6 screws that were the same size as the ones that came with the original, but they were useless. I then went to my local Rockler store, which sells the same product, and the salesman was equally perplexed as I was. Of course, I couldn't expect him to fix the problem because I didn't purchase it from Rockler. I'll try to talk to Sigmund Freud again, but I'm frustrated right now.
A good, clean cut with a razor-sharp edge. Because I don't have room for a large router table or a shaper in my small shop, I make tongue and groove cabinet doors with my table saw and a small router with a rabbeting bit. Right now, we're renovating our own kitchen. The first batch of doors were cut with an old carbide bit, which resulted in the expected chips and messy cuts; however, I must say that I am more than a little bit pleased with this purchase. Much better results, as everything I've run through it is cleanly cut. It's just a high-quality bit.
It would have been nice if the bit came with instructions. When cutting a, it can be difficult to know which bearing to use. 25" X . rabbet of 375". A fiber washer was also included in the package, but there were no instructions on how to use it or when not to use it. I ruined one of the washers on the first set of rabbets I cut, so I haven't used the second; I'm not sure what the washers' purpose is. br>After a few tries, the rabbets I cut came out looking great and were the right size.
It was a perfect fit. I've used this bit on a variety of projects, with rabbets ranging from 1/8" to 1/2", and it cuts smoothly and quickly. The bearings are simple to replace, but all of the small parts must be kept in mind.
It has a razor-sharp edge and cuts perfectly smooth rabbets. It's simple to switch out the bearings as needed for different sizes. Buying a single bit saves money, especially for DIYers who may not need multiple sizes of single width bits all of the time. This book comes highly recommended.
I bought this set because I needed to make very precise cuts in a cabinet glass installation project where any mistakes would have caused irreversible damage to the cabinet face. The set is fantastic, and the results are impressive!.
