Yes. The EZ Lock Mandrel is required for this project.
I have the same Dremel as you, and I've cut a lot of acrylic sheet goods up to 4mm (. With this wheel (157") thick, I find that lowering the speed to around 3/4 of maximum prevents the melting that occurs at full speed. I also make multiple passes on the thicker material, allowing the blade and material to cool if they begin to melt.
I used it on sheets that were 1/8" thick, and I had to go slow and steady to find the right RPM. I believe I cut about 15 feet with three wheels.
Thank you for reaching out to us with your query. You'll need to use slower speeds with the EZ476 to cut a slight or gentle curve. If you have any additional questions, please call 800-444-4444. 437- 3635 M- F 8am- 5pm CST.
Selected User Reviews For Dremel EZ476 1 1/2-Inch EZ Lock Rotary Tool Cut-Off Wheels For Plastic - 5 pack
It is not very long-lasting. The versatility score is high, but the durability score is low. The tool's inner metal ring, which holds the disc in place, disintegrates too easily. Every time I get a disc to do the job, I waste one. It works well for very small jobs. When I don't want to use the angle grinder, I was hoping for better results in tight spaces. I'm glad to have these as an option, but I'll need to keep an extra supply on hand in case they break (so far, none of the discs have broken before the metal ring).
You can sometimes save a few cents here and there while still getting poor results. This is an excellent example of why Dremel cut-off wheels are so valuable. It's well worth it to get off the beaten path. These wheels are simple to change and have a high cutting efficiency while also being highly effective. I've tried knocking on doors and knocking on doors and knocking on doors and They've taken it off, but they haven't worn it yet.
I bought these to cut and trim hard molded plastic interior trim for a restoration project on an old muscle car. They perform admirably on difficult-to-cut and-trim plastic.
Works well with polycarbonate, ABS, Delrin, Acrylic, and other similar materials.
I purchased this to make a few 6" cuts in a 1/8" polycarbonate (a. k. a. lexan) sheet. It worked perfectly, and I only had minor melting with the dremel set to 3/4 speed. We tried a few different tools before settling on this cutter.
These are what I use to cut out the bodies of my RC cars, which are made of 2mm Lexan. When the RPM is just right, they work flawlessly with no shredding or melting. I strongly suggest it.
These are what I use to cut sintra for Cosplay, and they work great. If you're cutting plastic with a blade, you'll need to find the sweet spot in the speed setting for a clean, quick cut that doesn't melt.
Dremel accessories are new to me when it comes to small projects. The EZ lock disc is fantastic, and it makes attaching the cutting disc a breeze. It's excellent in terms of quality, and it comes highly recommended.
