The Forney is a standard twist brush, while the DeWalt is a Stringer Bead brush, so they're two different kinds of brushes. Both are made in China and are nowhere near the quality of a brush made in the United States. If you want a Stringer Bead brush, buy a PFERD USA made 82186 or a Weiler USA made 13130. They are far superior to imports. Look for a PFERD or a Weiler standard twist brush if you want a traditional twist brush.
Stringer Bead brushes come in a variety of sizes, the most common of which is 4", but other manufacturers offer 4-inch brushes as well. 1/2". Look for products that are made in the United States, as Chinese wire isn't nearly as good as American wire, and USA-made products have less wire breakage and flying wires.

During car restorations, I use these for all kinds of metal prep and paint/rust removal. They appear to last a long time, so I keep an eye out for them. When working with an aggressive wire wheel like this, you should wear a face shield. A good one, such as the Lincoln face shield, is one of my favorites. Please use caution, wearing gloves, long sleeved shirts, and wearing a face shield to achieve the desired results. If you plan to paint the surface afterward, keep in mind that this disk is abrasive, so if you want a glass-like finish, you'll need to prime and sand first. The material you're cleaning will be removed by this disk, as well as the metal you're cleaning.
These are fantastic; anyone complaining about wires flying off hasn't used enough wire wheels. They're what I use to clean the wheel beads before putting on new tires. This is the most effective method I've discovered so far. I bought a cheap red one from Amazon and it only lasted 5 rims, literally shedding wires with each rotation. I cleaned 4 calipers for paint prep and have done over 20 wheels in that time, and I don't think a single wire has hit me.
It completely removes rust from metal without causing any harm. It's like a sander with a lot of power. Just remember to wear gloves because if one of these bristles comes loose, you'll know it!.
Never to be repeated. I have a rusted Ford F250 that was a northern truck, and I needed something to work quickly on the underbody to prepare it for rust remediation, and I was pleasantly surprised. This thing is all over the place. It's almost frightening how aggressive he is. lol. This is the wire wheel for you if you want a beast. I strongly advise you to do so.
This item isn't particularly long-lasting. During use, small shards of wire fly off and embed themselves in clothing and skin. Despite the fact that it performed as expected, the durability was not what I had hoped for.
For the past 6 months, I've been using this wheel. Wires haven't fallen out or spread in my experience. br>It did a good job of removing rust in corners, removing paint, and cleaning mill scale for me. br>It's something I'd recommend.
There will be wires flying everywhere, so wear goggles and a full face mask if possible! They were encrusted in my clothing, hair, and everything else!.
