Questions & Answers

The driver appears to be well-liked in various reviews, but I get the impression that power is not one of its strong suits. Is there enough torque in it to drive screws for a variety of projects around the house? Thanks. ?

On softer woods (e.g., eucalyptus), it definitely gets the job done. , 2x4s in the most basic form). I've been putting it to good use on all of my shelving projects - 9-2 is a popular choice. a set of 1/2" desk screws It's ideal for pre-schoolers because it can change directions (in and out). Drilling with a quick-release drill bit without touching anything other than the trigger I'm also impressed by how much torque it can generate and how long the battery lasts - It's a fantastic piece of software.

When it comes to terminal blocks, is it better to tighten them or loosen them?

What I discovered was that sometimes just turning the drill to start it wasn't enough, and that turning it a little further for more torque was necessary. The screw head slot on the drill would occasionally spin out. This was my fault because I should have checked the chuck's choke setting and adjusted it to a lower setting. The first thing I discovered was how to loosen a screw. Check that the screw tip fits into the screw head slot properly. After that, place the bit in the screw slot while it's still in the drill chuck. Then, without using the drill, manually turn the screw to loosen the tightened connection. Then, with the drill chuck choke adjustment set to the middle or low position, I could easily loosen the screw slowly when I needed to. In addition, on multiple connections, this saved time and battery. br>To tighten, I had to remember to set the choke setting low, which caused it to tighten and then rattle. Then I'd be able to adjust the choke to 1-. To make sure the screw terminal was secure, follow these two steps. br>I hope that this information is useful.

Are the batteries lithium-ion?

They are, in fact, lithium ion batteries.

What kind of screwdriver drive bits will work best with this screwdriver?

Any 1/4" hex bit with a notch around the lower part to keep the bit in place.

The gyroscopic mechanism is a completely new concept
3/5

It is suitable for use in confined areas. Pulling the trigger and rotating the screwdriver 45 degrees is the only way to get it to work. 90 degrees in one direction or the other (forward for clockwise, counter-clockwise for counter-clockwise). Reverse the direction (clockwise). The problem is that if you're working in a small area, you may not be able to rotate the entire tool 90 degrees. This renders it useless. This tool would be fantastic if it included a manual switch override, such as for "Forward, Reverse, Gyroscopic. " However, this is not the case.

This is excellent, but you should also think about the DEWALT 12V XTREME Screwdriver
4/5

This 8V screwdriver has a lot of torque, so it can drive really tight screws and even screws into wood, which isn't the intended use. The gyroscopic motion is intuitive. br>br>I docked one star because the DCF680N2 was more expensive than the DEWALT 12v XTREME screwdriver kit (with two batteries) at my local Lowes. br>br>While this is a great option for people looking for a smaller cordless screwdriver with a bit of torque, I also recommend the DEWALT 12V XTREME screwdriver. br>br>When compared to the DEWALT 12V XTREME screwdriver, it is actually longer horizontally with a pistol grip. While this screw driver is lighter than its 12V cousin, the weight distribution is better with the 12V cousin, and it feels better in the hand if you use it with a pistol grip. The length of the 8V screwdriver makes it feel heavy in the hand. br>br>The front of the 8V screwdriver has two LEDs, while the front of the 12V XTREME screwdriver has three LEDs. The 12V screwdriver clearly wins here, and the light is much brighter and more uniform as a result of the additional LED. br>br>I've uploaded photos of a 20V MAX brushless drill, a 12V XTREME screwdriver, and an 8V MAX screwdriver to help people decide which one to buy based on their size; they all have clutches so you don't ruin your furniture or delicate electronics if you don't want to use an impact driver.

In less than six months, one bat died
3/5

Aside from that, I enjoy it. It shines when used for the purpose for which it was created. It takes about 5 seconds to adjust to the right/left thing. It's fantastic and extremely sensitive if you need to make a very slow turn, for example. The torque isn't bad at all; I use it frequently to change the jaws on my lathe chuck. br>I expected to use it in straight mode more often, but I've only used it in pistol mode so far. EDITED: br>br> br>Now, in less than 9 months, BOTH batteries have failed. I only used it sparingly. The charger flashed quickly, indicating that the battery had died and that it would not be recharged. I purchased the flashlight as a result of this, and I am now extremely remorseful. br>br>What happens is that if you leave the batt inside the screwdriver, a trickle of electricity escapes. The batteries will be ruined if you use this charge. My first batt died a few months ago, and my second batt died this week after I forgot to take it out. THIS IS NOT A GOOD ITEM TO BUY. br>br>All of my other DeWalt batteries (old 18v nicad and newer 18v lithium) have lasted and continue to last for years. This is not something that should occur.

For RC hobbies and small home jobs, this is an excellent driver
5/5

I bought this to replace a Ryobi unit I'd been using for my RC hobby. The Ryobi has an internal battery and no clutch, so I decided to upgrade to the Dewalt. br>br>It isn't a torque monster, so don't expect to spend all day driving or removing 3" wood screws. However, it's almost ideal for use as a hobby. The clutch is excellent, and it can go low enough to accommodate M3 screws in plastic. br>br>Once you've played with the gyro for a while and figured out the quirks, it's a very slick and intuitive mechanism. The ergonomics are better than my Ryobi, and I'm very happy with the battery life. The bit holder that comes with it is ok, but I quickly removed it due to clearance issues, and the light is very nice because it illuminates hard-to-see spots even with standard work lighting. (As seen in photo) without). Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase. br>br> The only thing I'd like is a hi/low gearbox to give me more torque or speed options. However, the sum of all the other benefits outweighs that one flaw.

Kit is fantastic! (See image
5/5

) Summary: Let's face it: it's a tough world out there. Your spouse does not want you to hang things in the house with the hammering and noise of a construction site impact driver. When an impact driver isn't needed or required, this is the ideal solution. I use it for PC repairs, picture frame screws, outlet covers, and other things, and I no longer hear "Can you wait while the baby sleeps!" " (Extremely Quiet) Everyone's first instinct is to have a good time with the gyro, flipping the driver back and forth to feel and see how the driver is responding to your commands. It's suitable for both routine and light-duty tasks (e. g. , cleaning). 2" wood screws, as well as watch battery screws) br>br>How to Install a Charger: br>Insert two standard screws, spaced two inches apart. You've just mounted the charger to a stud somewhere in your shop with 3/8" apart and 1 (one) NM Staple (see photo). br>br>Operation: br>br>Operation: br>br>Operation: br>Press the button to start the motor; rotate the driver slightly to make it rotate slowly in the same direction. There is no forward or reverse switch to deal with (Yea!). Rotate the driver faster and it rotates faster. The driver will follow you in both directions if you rotate back and forth. In the unbent or straight position, it feels completely natural. I only use the bent position when I have a limited space and don't want to turn a manual screw driver. Advantages: br>br> br>If the screw stops for any reason, the clutch in this device will not rip your arm off. When compared to an impact driver, it is much quieter, and no hearing protection is required. The bag fits my screw bits kit and a compatible flashlight (not included). There's no need to carry the charger around because the batteries last a long time on regular non-rechargeable batteries. use on a building site The bag is small enough to stow away under a bathroom sink or in a small cabinet. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. br>I would never claim that this could ever replace an impact driver on a job site or for difficult screws that necessitate one.
