Questions & Answers
Hello, Albert, and thank you for your inquiry. It's made up of 25 individual discs.
I haven't used this brand yet, but I have cut aluminum with similar discs.
They are 6" in diameter, not 6" in length.
I'm not sure if they'd work well for cutting aluminum, but they've worked well for cutting steel.

Don't be a gorilla and try to rip the material apart with any cut off wheel. Use the tool's weight rather than your own. Finally, after you've scored a path to guide your blade, take your time going over as much of an area as you can. Because the blade is contained in a small space, it does not become too hot. This is what I refer to as "smoking the abrasive. ".
Over the course of 39 years, I've used air grinders and electric grinders, and I've used many different types of abrasive wheels, from grinding to cutting off, and these wheels have held up admirably. Anyone who has used large cut off wheels knows how important it is to make sure the wheel is centered on the grinder's hub, which prevents any vibration from the wheel not being centered; I use a Milwaukee grinder, and these wheels fit perfectly on the hub. If you force a cut off wheel to do the work rather than allowing it to do its job, or if you use the wheel as a grinding wheel and use the outside or inside of the wheel face, the wheel will come apart!.
Exceptional quality. EXCEPTIONAL customer service! I believe they have the best price, but I would pay a little more for them. They ACTUALLY MAKE and SUPPORT a fantastic product. If you're searching for cutting tools, look no further.
I'd always been a fan of the HF cut-off wheels. 4 1/2". This 5" wheel is so much better than the previous one I had. I understand that the larger wheel's outer edge turns faster (at first) than the 4 1/2", but this one appears to last longer. And- It's easier to cut.
For a custom trailer hitch ball mount, I cut a piece of 14 x 2" x 2" steel tubing. There was very little wear on the disc.
What you pay for is exactly what you get. These don't last very long, split where the screws go, and basically fall apart after only a few uses. It was a waste of money.
These were the first 5" wheels in the search, so I bought them. They are, however, of excellent quality. On a project, I've been cutting a lot of 1/4" stock, and they've lasted me quite well. They appear to last longer than other brands I've tried. There haven't been any that have broken or exploded, so it's a win-win situation.
You can't force a cut-off wheel through metal; instead, you must allow the will to do the work.
