I've worked as a welder fabricator for over 40 years, and these cutting disks are by far the best, most long-lasting, and most durable I've ever used. I've used ones that cost 5 to 7 times as much and didn't perform nearly as well. After my first purchase, I went back and bought two more lots because they're so good. I'll never use anything else, and their abrasive pads are just as good. A word of caution: always wear protective gear when using these disks, such as a face mask over your glasses and welding gloves, because even the best will blow on you at some point, and I've had one serious injury as a result of not being cautious enough. There have been no product failures to date, but any disk can bind and blow under the right circumstances.
Each day, we go through a couple of cut wheels. After a few moments of use, the central Arbor section of each one separates. My team is made up of certified welders who know how to work with cut wheels. This is a risk. DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY IN THIS WAY. NOT SAFE!.
When I run out of THESE, I'll buy the cheap-o version. o brand. "br>br>Boy, was I mistaken. These cut through twice as much steel as the Dewalt cutoff wheels before needing to be replaced.
The performance is almost identical to those that cost up to $2 each. They may not last as long or cut as quickly as the $4 fancy brand ones, but for the quantity and price on Prime Day, these are incredible. Cuts on the part with the low-cost ones found at most big-box stores, which cost around $2. These cost three times as much. br>br>One thing I've discovered with these, as well as other lower-cost angle grinder cutting wheels, is that when cutting thicker metal or longer cuts, don't let the workpiece heat up too much, as these things will consume much more quickly against hot metal.
Okay, it's a little early for me to write a review, but I'm very happy with them. br>br>I was cutting some steel, 2"x2" 1/4, which is sufficient for the job. My HF disc became chunky. br>br>When I switched to my shiny new 50 pack of "BenchMark" discs, the cut was much faster, the disc was much cleaner, and there was little to no wear on it. br>br>I'll update if they start breaking up or something, but for now, they're fantastic and make my HF cutoffs look like garbage. br>br>In addition, they did not appear to be as loud, which was unexpected. br>br>I mostly cut square tube up to 4 x 4 and no more than 1/4 inch thick.
For a long time, I relied on HF discs, which worked well, but I quickly ran out of them, so I began looking for alternatives. These, in my experience, last longer than HR ones and are comparable to name brand ones, and I have yet to have one come apart. Last night, I used these to cut 1/8" steel, and they tore right through it, just as I expected. I used these to cut 3/4" plate for my tractor weights and used 1 disc per 18" cut, killing one HF grinder in the process. br>br>I'm not sure what you mean by "precision cuts" and disc thickness. This is a 4 out of 5. A 5" cutting wheel that is as accurate as you are, or a plasma cutter, band saw, Dremel, or chop saw with a metal cutting blade if you need it to be more accurate. I'm more concerned about the disc breaking apart than with the fact that it's broken. 12 mm thicker.
I figured I'd give these a shot. I didn't expect them to be that good for such a low price, but I'm glad I did. When you buy in bulk, it's exactly as it should be: high quality at a low price. Even small bulk packs, like this one, should provide you with significant savings. Finally, there's a company out there that understands how things should be done. I'll be a customer for life if they keep being this fair, and I'll tell everyone I know about them. I've paid more for items that were of lower quality and quantity. There will be no more. From now on, it will only be these for me.
Cutting tanks is done with cutoff wheels. Before writing this, I burned nearly the entire box. I went through 500" of 3/8" carbon steel plate and 500" of 1/4" carbon steel plate with 46 wheels. On a 1/4" plate, the cut is probably 25" per wheel, and on a 3/8" plate, it's possibly a little less. That is a significant amount of information. I'm guessing it's comparable to Blue Fire and Gemini, which are two of my favorite stocks. I didn't notice a significant difference, though I do prefer the BA wheels. I found the sweet speed fairly easily and laid down a shallow trail to follow before simply letting the wheel do its thing, which cuts through the air quickly and lasts for quite some time. In the past, I've used a couple of cutoff wheels. Take it or leave it; either way, these are fine. I'll buy it again as long as BA doesn't jack up the price to take advantage of the surge in demand.
