Questions & Answers

7/8ths is a musical scale. What is the hole's diameter in inches? 5/8ths is what I have. Is it going to work in my chopper?

The hole is 7/8'' in diameter. If your grinder's threads are 5/8'', the shoulder should be 7/8''. The shoulder will be 5/8'' if the threads are 1/4''. The disc does not have a threaded hole in it.

Would these be effective at removing paint from a concrete floor?

Yes, but if you're painting a large area, the discs will become clogged with paint. You might want to use a metal scraper and paint remover.

Is it safe to use on wood?

On wood, they're actually quite good. Unlike most sanders, this one is extremely fast. However, you'll need to keep your hand steady.

What grit on these discs would be best for removing light rust and smoothing the paint on a 10 wheel dump truck's body?

For the light work you're describing, I believe 80 grit would be the best choice.

If you believe you always get what you pay for, don't buy these! After years of using a variety of locally sourced flap wheels, I finally decided to give these a try
5/5

These aren't for you if you believe that you should always get what you pay for. I can honestly say that these are a much better value than anything else I've ever tried, having paid between $5 and $20 per wheel locally from places like home depot, Lowe's, tractor supply, airgas, and other welding suppliers. I've only used a few so far, but I can confidently say that they outperform what I used to consider a fairly long-term investment. lasting wheel (priced at $14-$15) 15 EACH! ) and I am ecstatic that I decided to give them a try- I'll be purchasing more in the future! For those who are curious. br>br> In no way, shape, or form am I affiliated with the seller. They haven't offered me anything in exchange for a positive review. I'm just a regular guy who appreciates a good deal on a good product!.

These sanding discs are just as good as some of the more expensive items on the market in terms of appearance and performance
5/5

For more than 31 years, I've worked in the welding industry. I've been using flap disc sanding pads since they were first introduced to the market, and I've paid anywhere between $12 and $50 for them. 00 to $1. The latter were pieces of junk (from some Harbor company), and the former were 50 each. I paid $22 not long ago. 00 for three sanding discs (from a well-known welding supply in my city) that work great; these were around $7. 33 each. Later, I went online and found these benchmark discs for a ridiculous price (roughly $2). I assumed they were going to be another Harbor company product, and I ordered them not expecting much from them or that I would get much use out of them, but I was wrong. These sanding discs are just as good as some of the more expensive items on the market in terms of appearance and performance. This is a product that I strongly recommend(4. 5"x7/8" Premium High Density Jumbo disc grit 40) I haven't tried any other grits because I find 40 grit to be the best all-around sanding and grinding disc. If you use 60 or 80 grit from any manufacturer to grind, it will wear out and simply burn up.

Longevity at an Unbelievable Price! This is fantastic! Both for deburring and "cleaning" steel (rust, mill scale, and so on)
5/5

I've been cleaning my steel with 40 grit before welding. They are extremely durable, particularly when compared to "big box" stores. In comparison, the cost is usually a third of what it is elsewhere. They're also more durable than the more expensive models! br>br>To be honest, I was blown away by how well they functioned. I would have been ecstatic if they worked "as well," but they do not; in fact, they are far superior. I have one 40 grit flap disk that I've been using for a week, or a LOT of steel, both for initial cleaning and finish prep. And it hasn't slowed down since then.

Excellent value for money! For years, I've been buying a few name brand flap discs at a time from a local store to keep a stock on hand, but I've never been impressed with their durability (I'm not a professional welder)
5/5

I came across these Benchmark Abrasives products while shopping on Amazon one day. "They can't possibly be very good for that price," I reasoned. However, after reading so many positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. As a result, I ordered a ten-pack of "Jumbo" Zirconia 40 grit discs. WOW! What a distinction! These items are incredible. One of the discs appeared to have a 2-year shelf life. The discs lasted three times as long as the name brand discs I was using previously. And all for a fraction of the price! It was impossible for me to believe what I was hearing. br>I just finished building a new large welding table, and there was a LOT of grinding involved; I only used TWO BA Jumbos for this project, and the second one is still going strong. From now on, I'll be stocking these in my shop! br>In addition, if you want, the 40 grit will remove a lot of material (mild steel).

It's ideal for removing paint from an old tongue-and-groove floor
5/5

I recently ripped the carpet out of an old tongue and groove floor that had been there for two decades. paint layers that have been removed The paint wasn't peeling, the tongue and groove installation wasn't level, and sanding the floor wasn't an option for a variety of reasons. br>br>After using a belt sander and a random orbital sander with 40 grit paper, I used these flap discs on an angle grinder. There was a significant difference. I'm getting much better results from the discs (by a long shot) and working much faster (again, by a long shot). There are a few exceptions, however. br>br>First and foremost, sanding wood with these is a PAINFUL experience. The angle grinder, unlike the sanders, does not have any dust collection, and these discs spit out a LOT of sawdust, at least twenty times more than a sander. Second, sanding a large surface with an angle grinder is extremely difficult compared to using an orbital sander or even a belt sander, and it necessitates a significant amount of hand and wrist strength. Third, even with a sanding disc instead of a cutting wheel, an angle grinder is a much more dangerous tool than a sander, and sanding is really only a viable option if you remove the safety guard, so you'll need to use common sense and have decent skills if you want to do this. It's also a good idea to wear eye protection. Fourth, sanding your floor this way can quickly gouge it up, especially if you're trying to remove paint from deeper pockets, which necessitates a greater angle. This is probably not the tool for you if you don't want a distressed look or don't want to spend the time sanding out gouges. br>br>However, the disadvantages were far outweighed by the advantages in my case. I want to dye the floor, not paint it, and I really wanted to get the paint off, especially near the groove edges and other places where my belt sander and random orbital sander struggled to get to bare wood (and only after a lot of time). And, given the circumstances, I'm perfectly content with a little bit of a distressed look on this floor, which is patched and wasn't properly installed to begin with. br>br>Yet another benefit: Your sandpaper will be ripped to shreds if you have nails or screws that you can't get out or further in (or that you simply missed). You can simply grind them down with these discs. (However, be aware that grinding generates a lot of sparks. ) How are the discs holding up? )br>br>How are the discs holding up? I had about 400 square feet of sanding to do, and I'm about 3/4 of the way through. I could have swapped out more frequently. I haven't tried any methods to clean the gunk out of the discs (other than slamming it on the floor a few times), and I only put the third disc on before calling it a day. I'd be dissatisfied with this cost–longevity ratio if these discs were $8 or $10 each, but given the price of this pack, I'm very happy with it. These provide excellent value, in my opinion. br>br>As I previously stated, these are not for everyone. However, in the right circumstances, this is an excellent choice.
