Since the bit length is 3 1/2", that would give you 1/2" of chucking room. Keeping the hole clean will ensure you can insert it until it reaches the end. This is my first time using it near that depth.
The question is a good one. As soon as I finished working, I went to lock and load the 1/4"X1/4" drill bit into I took a piece of wood out and bored a 3/4" hole in it. There was a possibility of deeper investigation. This goes deeper than 1/4", so the depth is greater than

It seems as though the bit is of high quality, but it is extremely The hole does not get cleared very efficiently this way. The watch was dull from the factory. I'm not sure if it was the cutting edge design or not. The wood I was drilling through is called poplar and it is quite soft. I didn't have to bore through other parts as long as it did, so it shouldn't have taken so long. In addition, the clearances were exactly measured and the size is good.
We were able to get straight to work on the project drilling holes in Oak and Walnut after receiving them. It's a much bigger size than the bits I had in my set that I have had for many years, and these look like a better design than those. Its cutting edges were sharp and it cut through the material like butter (a number of dozen holes were drilled).
In a nutshell, A flip up shelf was equipped with two neodymium magnets of 1/4" diameter installed using this bit. I could not be happier with this.
This drill is perfect for drilling perfectly round holes. While I realize that a forstner bit is supposed to drill round holes, most other brands that I have bought do not do so and even fewer drill on the edge of the hole Despite the fact that they cost the same as a Freud, giant holes are still expensive.
No more undersized holes after using this tool on dowels. The only thing I would change is that I would prefer carbide but they should be fine for wood, I just hope There are no wobbles, and it is a high-quality product.
To replace my Rockwell bit that broke off the tip, I found this bit to be a great buy! It cannot fit into the Rockwell case because the 1/4 shank is too large. I don't think it's a big deal!.
As I was making some gifts I used this and it worked fine for about 40 holes in Walnut, then to my dismay, the bit became I will need to sharpen it in order to make it work better.
My main concern with the tool is how precisely it cuts and how it applies pressure. It was a great night for Freud! Make sure you spend the extra pennies on.
