Accurate to within a tenth of a tenth of a ten 003"
5/5

This drill chuck arrived, and I installed it in my crusty, craigslist-purchased Delta 17-inch drill press. I have a 900 drill press on which I am replacing parts as I see fit. The old chuck needed to be replaced because the tightening gears were completely worn out. With a wooden mallet and some scrap wood, removal and installation were a breeze. I used a stationary run-up once it was installed. To check if you're running out of gas, use the out gauge. The same results were obtained after two full rotations. I was - at best. 002" is a combination of the letters "002" and ". " 001", which is more than enough precision for my woodworking needs, especially for a drill press chuck that costs less than $40. My press and spindle are old and worn, so the inaccuracy could be due to that. I'll keep you updated as I use it more, but so far I'm pleased with my purchase.

The MT2 taper is a two-stage taper
4/5

The diameter is 25". This chuck is ideal for my needs, which include holding a drill bit or forstner bit in the tailstock of my lathe to bore out pen blanks or bowl/container interiors. Because I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else on this page, you should know that the chuck's diameter is 2. 25", which can be a problem if you're hollowing out the insides of a vase or "treen" type of container by drilling deep into a block of wood. To clear enough of a cavity for this chuck to fit into the deeper holes, you'll need a fairly large forstner bit. Apart from its size, the chuck is well-made and can hold a bit securely enough to force a 2. A 5" forstner was inserted into the oak end grain.

For what it is, it's fantastic
4/5

This is what it is br> It's a dependable - chuck for general utility use that is cheap, bang around, and reasonably accurate. br> You can get it for $35. You will definitely get your money's worth if you spend $40. br> Exactly what this isn't; In any case, a comparison to a genuine $600-plus car isn't fair. 900 dollars for a Jacobs or a Superchuck. br> This is not a tool with which you should expect to do mill spec work. br> I expect that most people who buy this will use it to bore holes in wood or mild steel, for example, without needing or having the ability to measure extreme precision. If it has a buttery smooth feel to it, it is accurate to within. I doubt you'd ever look to Amazon to meet those needs anyway, 00001 chuck. br> I doubt any two of these chucks would have the same runout or QC, and while it doesn't feel like a Superchuck, I can tell it's adequate for my intended purpose just by using a high quality brad point bit in the one I received. br> I'd say that if you do get a faulty one, it's probably just a random QC issue, and it's worth giving them another chance to replace it. I doubt I'll be able to find a comparable replacement chuck for such a low price anywhere else. br> Best wishes.

It works
3/5

There doesn't appear to be a precise MT2 taper here. When I compared the MT2 specifications to the taper on this chuck, I discovered that they are not even close in a couple of dimensions. With some persuasion, it fit in my drill press. If I ever need it, I'm not sure how I'll get it out. I took measurements of my old taper and found that it met MT2 specifications in every dimension. This is not something I would recommend for precise work. It has visible run out, and the taper doesn't fit well.

The fit is perfect
5/5

In my Central Machinery TT-100, this replaced the old, worn chuck. 16 drill. I bought the drill for $40 at an estate sale, and it worked perfectly except for the worn-out teeth on the chuck. br>I ordered this chuck and spindle after trying a $12 less expensive one from another vendor. They sent the incorrect parts in the box that was properly labeled. It was returned to me, and I replaced it with this one. It slid right in and was perfectly seated with just a few taps of a rubber mallet. The chuck spins smoothly with no wobble or misalignment, and the drill drills precise holes.

It appeals to my tastes
5/5

This was purchased for my mini lathe, which measures 8 by 14 inches. It appears to be well made and of good quality now that I've used it. I ground the back of the "tang" to make it not extend as far, but it worked just fine without it. It's a big, beefy machine, which is exactly what I was looking for. It also fits in my drill press, which is a plus.

Every two revolutions or so, Chuck becomes stuck
3/5

To unstick it, you'll need to use a chuck key with a lot of force. Amazon/Zlivecenter is sending a replacement in two days and offering a free return, which is fantastic if the new one works better. I'll let you know when I get my new chuck.

Excellent quality and value for the money, as well as quick delivery
5/5

I'm not a machinist, but I needed to replace the chuck on a Craftsman drill press that was getting old. This chuck is of comparable, if not superior, quality to the original, and it comes at a very reasonable price. Mine came with the arbor seated in the chuck; all I had to do was install the shank into the drill press quill. The MT2 taper is a perfect fit, easy to install, and holds firmly in place.
