Selected User Reviews For BOSCH HCK005 5-Piece S4L SDS-plus Rotary Hammer Drill Bit Set
I purchased this bit set along with a 220v Bulldog equivalent. They have already been used a few times but nothing really challenging. I think it's a very good set of tools. They cut through concrete pretty smoothly, forming clean holes. The biggest size may just need a pilot if you are wanting to extend its life. After being used for a while, some of the pieces began to show signs of rust, but that isn't a One of the only things that bothers me is that the plastic case it comes in is too small to accommodate the SD+ attachments at the bottom of the bits because of that I had to manually lift the top of the bit every time I needed to remove it. They're now loose in my drill case, and that is fine for now, but I'd prefer to keep them in a case.
As discussed previously, we don't have too much to add to the discussion regarding Bosch bits. My Bosch Bulldog rotary hammer has helped me drill into old, poured concrete floor slabs, and into newer poured concrete walls a few times with these bits. They always perform as expected, and they last a long time, too. All were quickly and efficiently performed their jobs, and then looked as good as new after a quick wipedown with a rag, and a spray of light oil as a protection measure. It is important to understand that these bits are quite short. If you are unfamiliar with broken spline mechanisms, the length of the spline can be a little deceptive The hammer bits are not adequate for setting wall anchors in conjunction with shelving and soforth where strenght will be more of an advantage If you are planning to buy a rotohammer, grab this bit set as well. For the price, it is going to provide you with a lot of versatility and will last a very long time. It isn't the most expensive, but it is the best. This is where it all ends This bit set is very good for the price, but is not the best of all bit sets. All of the bits come with a handy slide-top case to keep each one sorted from the rest of the junk in the Once I eventually wear mine out (haven't even made a significant start on that yet), I'll definitely be buying another set to keep in the case with the tool so I can always have.
It used to be easy to get individual hammer drill bits at our local home improvement store when I needed them. In contrast, when sold as a single item, they are much more expensive than when sold as I found this on Amazon at a good price and ordered it as a backup since I haven't decided what to do with this set yet, but I know I will need it in the future. With this set, you will get five commonly used sizes, all in the included storage box. I am impressed with how well the bits are made. Before putting away the box, I opened it up to check on them and found one slightly bent drill bit. That seems strange, since it looks like it has just been purchased. It happens with cheaper brands, too, but Bosch and I have been working together for decades, so I'm very satisfied with that brand. A quality control issue of this kind is rare in the industry. It was a smooth and easy return experience on Amazon as usual. Despite my earlier thoughts, I can still see myself getting this set the next time I work on a project. My review will be updated once I complete it. As long as Amazon's 30 day wait period is intact, I'd certainly open the box and check the bits. Also, it is crucial to replace a drill bit every time it wears out.
Although it is hard to write a glowing review for a Bosch drill, these drills live up to their It fit my SDS chuck perfectly, and I was able to drill into concrete without issues. This part is made in Germany, so it's a good piece of strong plastic. --- These are metal drill bits so are not affected by the false reporting of diesel pollution, so they also deserve 5 stars on that factor. -- 4/10/16 Update --
Have used the smaller bits several times in the basement and they never failed. As long as you do not hit rebar in the concrete (and this does apply to other SDS bits as well), you will not blunt the drill bit and things will proceed slowly. It's just a warning.
I realized I needed SDS bits for my new hammer drill after I learned what they were. My order arrived, I put one in, and it went through high PSI concrete with little effort.
Actually, "drills" would be a better term. a Bosch engine that is broken- With the right drill, even extremely aged concrete can be drilled easily and quickly. You must beware In spite of the fact that the box was still sealed from the factory, only 4 of the 5 drill bits were part of the first shipment. It is likely, though, that the seller (you know who), will simply put it back on the shelf and try to sell it to someone who will not insist on returning it as I did (3/8" bit missing), so if you get one with 4 bits, you know who did it. It would be a good purchase to buy again, but make sure you understand these bits are very short if you need to drill deep, then longer bits may be necessary.
Using a larger drill bit would result in the hole being bigger than it should be, forcing me to reduce the drill bit size to reach the size I want. Not precisely accurate.
