Neither the handles nor the quick adjustment are wide enough for them to accommodate people with arms wider than 6". The strength of this jig lies in this area. A majority of my work involves installation of small knobs or handles, mostly under 6 inches in length. I finally decided to pay the price for this jig because a current job required that I install a variety of very long handles. I am very happy that I bought it and it worked very well. That is an absolute life saver. In any case, it will save you a lot of time. After my wife ordered a $6 plastic template that didn't fit our handles, I decided to order this. As you can see, we had a bit of an odd space between the handles. They have a center spacing of four with one third" between the centers. Our cabinets have a lot of upper doors, and I was able to do the top doors in 15 minutes using this product. We took a little more time to find the center on our bottom drawers as it was a bit more difficult, but they turned out beautifully! It is a hard work, tough product, but the handle is not always straight, as it is a wrought iron type that isn't perfect. That's more of a handle issue, but overall, it is a very tough product and sturdy.
