Will the system work with a 6-inch variable-speed grinder?

Although an 8" grinding wheel is preferable, I believe a 6" would suffice if the mountings were adjusted properly.

This is something I should have bought a long time ago
5/5

I'm a beginner woodturner who's had some success with tools I thought were reasonably sharp. I got a good deal on a used car. I tried to sharpen my tools with a speed grinder, but only managed to ruin the bevels on a few of them. I bit the bullet and purchased the Oneway Wolverine jig kit after much frustration. I didn't realize how dull my tools were until I set up and used the jig. It was awe-inspiring in every way. It allows me to achieve perfect bevels and edges in a matter of minutes, and turning has never been more enjoyable. br>Skilled woodturners recognize the value of properly sharpened tools. Although the cost of this kit may seem high at first, having the ability to sharpen your tools quickly and accurately is well worth it. You'll be amazed at how much better your projects turn out with good, sharp tools, and you'll probably spend a lot less time sharpening them. br>My only regret is that I didn't get this kit sooner.

Without spending $2000, this is the best jig on the market
5/5

For several years, I've been using this jig. I've used it with both a Porter Cable Variable Speed and a Rikon Slow Speed grinder, both of which are 8" in diameter. The jig components and the grinder must be bolted to the work area's surface, which was simple and straightforward to set up. I made an L-shaped bracket to prevent bolting directly to my workbench. I'm looking for a shaped platform that I can place on the bench and secure in one of the vises. As a result, I'm able to move the grinder around. When I'm not using it, I put the jig on the shelf. If you're not sure how to set up the jig, go to a Woodcraft store or a wood turners club and have an expert show you how. You'll be able to put a good edge on your gouges in minutes once you get the hang of it. br>br>For it, I suggest a set of CBN wheels. I'm shaping my gouges with 180 grit and honing them with 600 grit. I have a 120 grit wheel that I can set up if I need to completely reshape a gouge. The heat factor that burns and softens your gouges is reduced by using CBN wheels. Also, after a large project, you don't have to clean and dress the wheel. br>br>The Tormek wet wheel tool is the other best jig I've found for sharpening gouges. If you're willing to spend $1000 on a grinder and another $250 on accessories, this is the grinder for you. a total of $1000 for the various attachments - Take a chance. I'm going to stick with Wolverine for now.

Perfection in every way
5/5

Talk about simplicity (after a little practice). It's priceless to be able to grind tools in a consistent manner. When you factor in the amount of time you'll save, it's insane. It will help you achieve better results if you read the directions. There must be six of them. 25- The distance between the surface on which you mount your grinder and the center of the wheel is about 5" (I believe). This is all for the benefit of Angle. It was simple for me to adjust my grinder; all I had to do was cut a rectangle piece of stock to raise the motor/mount section. The holders are then given three pre-determined options. holes were drilled under each of the wheels to allow them to be mounted. To achieve good results, they do not need to be perfectly straight. Just give it your all in this situation. You're ready to go once you've installed it. Unless, of course, you haven't seen the DVD, which I strongly recommend. You could probably figure it out on your own, but I prefer to be fully informed about the products I use. Because I am a teacher, I do the same thing when I am learning on my own. This is a fantastic accessory for a bench grinder. br>br> This system works for (I believe) any bench grinder. Just the bigger, sturdier table is nice for chisels, mower blades, axe heads, and other small items. With a spare motor, you could probably build your own. br>br>You can see some damage to the box in the video. The flat table attachment was not securely fastened inside the box, resulting in this. Thankfully, no one was hurt. The rest of the contents of the box were fairly safe. This is a once-in-a-lifetime purchase, and when I'm finished with it, I'll be able to pass it on to others. Excellent value for money. br>br>The blocks with the numbers 1 and 2 on them initially perplexed me, but all you have to do is slide the square shaft into the variable shaft. The distance and angle required for certain types of grinds on your gouges are determined by the grind system. br>br>If you've been considering buying this system, or if you're not sure if it'll help you, I'd say BUY IT NOW. I have no qualms. This is a one-time purchase that you will never regret (at least, I hope not), so once it's paid off (just a few wooden bowls sold), it'll be all smiles and scary sharp tools. The right kind of sharp is scary sharp.

A good jig for grinding
4/5

This jig system for grinding is very effective. To get an Irish or swept back grind when working on bowl gouges, you'll need some practice. Be aware that you will need to modify your grinder to get the height and angles correct, and I have added a 2" spacer block for the bowl jig to keep it at the proper distance from the wheel. To maintain a consistent grind on your tools, you'll need another homemade jig to measure the distance between the extension arm's pocket and the wheel.

The Sharpener of Choice
5/5

When it comes to sharpening lathe tools, Wolverine has become the most well-known brand. It's simple to put together, but you might need some scrap wood. I attached it to my grinder (yes, a grinder is required) and needed to bolt my grinder to a scrap piece of wood so that this could also be bolted to that wood. It took about 15 minutes to get everything set up. It's simple to use and the tools are angled perfectly for grinding. It leaves a nice burr for turning (yes, it's confusing; for a lathe, you want the burr, but for carving tools, you don't), and it's easy to go to overtime you need to sharpen when left set up. It is made of metal components and should last for many years. I have a six-inch grinder, and it worked perfectly with it.

If you're new to turning and, as a result, sharpening lathe chisels, this is a must-have
5/5

For years, I've used various stones to sharpen chisels and plane blades, so the idea of using a grinder was alien to me. I didn't realize how difficult it was to sharpen lathe chisels until I tried it. After that, I went out and bought a slow-moving vehicle. Sharpening freehand with a speed grinder produced horrifying results. It was extremely unattractive, and the tools' performance was subpar. So I gave in and purchased this system, and I am extremely pleased with the results. I would never consider sharpening with my hands again.
