I am amazed at their arrogance. I got the 28 piece set and the half sizes are a nice addition. There should also be a 15mm lens included. One of the most popular sizes was left out of the 28-piece set, especially since it is the largest? What you said makes no sense to me. In spite of that, they are very good at what they do. (I am also getting a 15mm version from Matco #HG11M15)
Update Recently, I purchased a deep lug nut set from them and I had to use these a few times. When you work on rusty cars for a living, they are worth every penny.
A MAPGAS blow torch is needed, as well as PB-03 It includes these extractor sockets, as well as a blaster. One of the key steps is to heat the bolt until it is cherry red. Cool it, then spray it generously After blasting, let it sit for a little while. To connect these extractor sockets, use a 1/2" adapter fitted to a 24" breaker bar "the longer, In some cases you will have to repeat this technique more than once, depending on the amount of corrosion. Please DO NOT force the bolt! If it gets stuck, turn it back 1/4 turns and forward 1/2 turns, spray more PB-Fuel to loosen the jam. In the threads, there is a blaster. You will have to shear off a rusted bolt if you force it. You need to remember that being patient is a virtue and that MAPGAS is your best.
It's my job to work on rotating equipment for industrial applications. My employer occasionally asks me to go out on the field. My ass has been saved more than once by these sockets. There was to be a rounded off nub of a pipe plug left over for them to grab on to. A leak caused it to leak, so it must be replaced. The second time I used them, I was trying to reach a tight spot in a drip pocket. To remove the stuffing box studs from the pump case, I had to remove the pump cover. There are no problems with these sockets, juust wish there was a larger size. I have saved a tremendous amount of time and grief as a result of these tools.
It would be better if gear wrench was embarrassed of himself. My experience has been the worst I have ever had. It took me several tries, but I had to use my tried and true Matcos and Irwins. I found this purchase to be the most disappointing.
A socket that fits 7mm wasn't available for my 5mm socket, so I bought a socket that fits 7mm. It is the coil pack for the 4L Ford. Having difficulty with it for a couple days was making me crazy. It took me only a few seconds to remove the bolt once I used this socket.
The product is made It is disappointing to hear that. Taiwan is where most of their stuff comes from.
When finished, I intended to reuse the bolt after removing it. I ordered this product so that the bolt could be removed and reused. Solid manufacturing is evident when it comes to the sockets. In spite of the bolt being in a location that is not very visible and making it difficult to apply pressure to seat the socket firmly on the bolt, I was able to remove it at my first effort with no problems. Using this socket, it went back in and tightened down firmly again after swapping the bolt with another of equal size and length in a more convenient location. *Note that the socket did leave only a light mark on the bolt head at the points of contact. This product is solidly constructed, effective without damaging the bolt, it has a hex flange to allow you to use a wrench if needed, it has clear size markings, and it comes with a holder to store it.
For me, this kit is a bit on the expensive side, but ultimately it has saved me a great deal of time and headache, and as such it has paid for itself tenfold. In my case, I noticed this particularly true when my brake caliper bolts got stuck. Even after a long working day in an abusive environment, the sockets still have the same bite and grip they had on day one. They are durable, well made, and I use them every day in a professional environment. My only complaint was that sometimes the socket won't bite into bolts quickly without clamps or hammers, which is just the nature of this type of socket. There is no problem since these are pass-through sockets, so as long as you don't get a fastener stuck in them, you can easily remove them.
