Selected User Reviews For GEARWRENCH GearBox™ 12 Pt. XL Flex Head Double Box Ratcheting Wrench, 21mm - 86021
As a heavy equipment mechanic, I frequently use a 24mm or 15/16" wrench and have always wished that my mountain wrenches could go higher. I like how gearwrench makes their wrenches with a non-ratcheting boxed end on one side. The only reason I deducted a star was because I wished these were available in 120xp! I've been spoiled by being able to use them on a daily basis.
I'm a big fan of wrenches. I already have the 21 and 22mm, and I'd like to add the 24mm. They're 72 teeth, not 120 like the smaller wrenches, but they'll get the job done; also, the smaller wrenches are spline drive, whereas these are traditional 12 point with an off-center drive. Corner contact, similar to flank drive, which I prefer to spline drive because it appears to make better contact with the fastener.

For this length, it's a steal. It's EXTRA long, which I need for leverage when removing suspension and ball joint bolts. br>This compares favorably to MATCO XLbr>br>Definately recommend. It is reasonable in cost.
For a single wrench, there's a lot to do. It's a great wrench, but I wish it could last more than one use. I returned it because the ratcheting end locked up right away, even after using the box end to break it free first; I have both sae and metric versions of the 120xp xl wrench sets with no problems.
It didn't last the first time it was used; the gears wore out and it was rendered useless. I would have happily recommended it if it had worked, but it did not, and I do not intend to do so in the future.
This wrench is fantastic; I use it on a regular basis and have never had any issues with it. This is what I use with the Sunex super shallow sockets with the hex shank, and it fits almost anywhere.
The teeth in the ratcheting end are trash, so it's not worth the money. I purchased a 22 mm, a 24 mm, and a 21 mm, all of which broke within a short period of time. The MAC truck guy, on the other hand, was more than happy to provide me with a warranty. The 0 degree offset, on the other hand, is very appealing.
