Questions & Answers

Is it possible to take off the face pads?

They do, in fact, Every pad has two fasteners.

Do you think it'll hold up in a milling machine?

You should be able to mill small parts with ease.

Is it possible to mount it to a mini lathe's tool post?

To be sure; if you have all of the necessary fasteners and tools br>In addition, a honey-comb could be attached. If they have the proper fasteners and other equipment, a badger can be kept in a cage:

is compatible with the Wen 4208 8-inch monitor ?

No, it's too big for the 4208's table. I bought both and had to return this one. It will fit in terms of height, but the slots for bolting it on will protrude beyond the edges. It's possible that I'll be able to restrain it in some way. You can line up for two bolts to go through if you turn the bit diagonally, but it wouldn't be very functional.

Dimensions of the whole
4/5

So far, everything has gone according to plan. Cast iron that is well-made. I haven't used it for very long, so I can't give an informed opinion on it. However, because the original mention of the dimensions was a little hazy, I am able to state the dimensions. The height of the fully horizontal setting is 4 5/8 inches from the bottom of the base to the top of the jaws. The height is 8 7/16 inches in its fully vertical position. 7 5/16 x 7 9/16 inches is the size of the base. The jaw mechanism is 8 13/16 inches long from the end of the tightening screw to the back of the jaws. 4 3/16 inches is the width of the jaw. I hope that this information will assist other potential buyers in their product research, and I will provide a follow-up review after I have used the product for a period of time.

The second unit is currently being delivered
3/5

I bought this vise because of its tilting capabilities and rave reviews, and I'm hoping it'll be better than the first. br>The build structure appears to be in good shape, and it performed admirably for several days, but it began to seize shortly after pressure was released. Despite the fact that it wasn't particularly filthy, I cleaned and oiled everything. It didn't appear to be of any assistance. br>br>I didn't disassemble the unit, but I'm guessing something broke or bent after a few days, but I can't see it if that's the case. br>br> Because I like the design and the way it's built, I ordered a replacement in the hopes that I just received a defective unit, as most people gave it high ratings. But I'm well aware of the pitfalls of high scores; 50% of the great scores happen two hours after someone receives an item without trying it out , so if the second one fails it’ll turn out to be a design flaw br>br>If it fails, I'll make a note of it in this post.

For the money, this is a fantastic vise
4/5

This is what I'm using on my WEN 4214, and it's a fantastic addition. so far - It had completed all of my requirements. NOTE, HOWEVER, (and this is why I'm taking a star off overall): It will not mount "squarely" to the 4214's table, but rather diagonally. I'm not sure if this is by design or if the vise was never meant to be used with the 4214 in the first place. As I previously stated, it works for me, and aside from the minor inconvenience that it causes my OCD, it isn't a major issue. Aside from that, this thing is rock solid, with minimal screw play and no play in the ways. Angle adjustment is a bit of a pain, but I prefer it that way. Overall, it's a great vise for the money and a great addition to my small garage workshop.

Machining of poor quality, and a shaky locking pin chain
3/5

This thing was so tight I couldn't move it, but after an hour of filing and sanding, I finally got it to the point where it glides pretty smoothly now. The Machine Services on this are very rough and of poor quality; this is due to the part being rushed through the machine too quickly and using dull cutting tools. Because the toy chain that holds the locking pin in place is so fragile, it broke somewhere while I was working on it; five more minutes and a better cable would have made this a five star Vice if the manufacturer had just taken the time to put quality in their products.

Hold on for dear life
5/5

This vice does an excellent job of holding all of my projects in place, regardless of the angle at which I need to drill them. When purchasing this vice, the only thing you should think about is how it will attach to your drill bed. I had to come up with a new way to mount the vice because the bolts for my t-bar weren't long enough. The slots were 1/2" wide and did not fit into the vice's slots - I switched out the t-shirt on the one I have. The vice can now be easily adjusted and held tight on the drill bed thanks to slots and bolts (which cost about $6).

I'd give it a six because it's that good
5/5

This tiny vise is a tyrant. For starters, it's heavy (you'll need two hands to lift it); There is no such thing as a light weight. The jaw mechanism opens and closes with a smooth motion. There are two stops on the angle set. You can customize the type catches. This vise isn't going to fall over on its own. There's no denying the high level of craftsmanship. The jaws of the vise are extremely finely milled, and I use it with my floor model drill press. This brute is easily held in place on the drill table by slot hold downs on the press. The vise is sturdy enough for me to use on a mini milling machine, and the jaws and body line up with all of the press-in points. I use it on a variety of tables. This vise has made me extremely happy, and the quality is excellent for the price. It's a simple and smooth mechanism. The vise's jaws are finely milled, and it holds wood or metal securely in place without sagging or tipping. Purchase this item; He's a brute, but he's a winner.

Vise with a strong grip Wen drill press slots do not match
3/5

I really like this vise; it's sturdy, well-made, and simple to adjust, and I wish I could give it five stars, but I can't. This was purchased to go with my Wen drill press, which is 12 inches in diameter. "Compatible with the WEN 10-inch Vise," it clearly states on this vise. Inch, 12- inch, 15- Inch, as well as 17-inch and 18-inch "Inch drill presses" is a term used to describe drill presses that are However, its slots do not line up with the slots on the drill press's table or base. So, if the vise moves while you're drilling into something, your accuracy and alignment are toast: (br>I made the decision to keep it rather than return it. ) To keep it from moving, I simply use clamps. Not the best situation - The clamps obstruct the work - But it's not a deal breaker for me.

That is precisely what I was looking for
4/5

When that happens, it's fantastic. This is a serious, solid vise that is sturdy and well-made. The parts do not bind, and the screw action is smooth, with the exception of when the jaws are nearly wide open. br>It's not immovable, even though it's heavy and solid; simply carry it close (I know you won't be doing this much). br>br>Details and finish are kept to a minimum: Clearly, you aren't paying for looks. br>Comes coated in a light film of oil to prevent rusting and corrosion during storage and shipping. br>Vise is easily dismantled and reassembled, so initial and subsequent cleanings should be simple. br>br>Four-year warranty It *IS* everything I want, so it gets a five-star rating. A five-star vise, I believe, would stand out from the crowd.
