Although I am unable to measure the clamping force, I will admit that it is a good vise, with well aligned jaws, which have not deflected during use whenever I have clamped something hard. The bench seems to hold items well when being worked on, both flat items and rounded The one I have is quite satisfying to me.
It is NON-indexed, so positioning to the desired position is relatively smooth and easy As far as lock down compression is concerned, it is rock solid. There are 2 adjustment screws to allow for side to side slop, and the jaws fit perfectly.

25" yost forged is identical to this one. This is the best investment you can make. The jaw opening is actually one inch wider than the advertised 8". However, you will run low on thread engagement so I wouldn't use it at the 9" opening for high torque situations or beating on something, but it is a great tool for holding pieces of lumbar or something lighter duty. It opened to 5 7/8" on my last high jaw vice with a 6" jaw. Normally they would require a longer piece of steel for this type of vise, but this vice is forged and welded, making it particularly compact and slim. The bottom is low on the vice, the throat is deep, and the area under the jaws is large. This is absolutely a wonderful product that I have been using for a few weeks now! The casting is now my primary vice and since I stopped using my 20-year cast piece, I don't regret it. Over the long term, we will see how well it holds up. In my opinion, this is 100% identical to the previous Yost vice, which is no longer available. Instead, they are now shipping a different casting vice that is designated with This is the forged still I was after, so I decided to give it a shot. This is amazing! I love.
A solid construction, and the castings do not have excess flash or junk to make their looks or function inferior. The finish does not need to be perfect. As far as I can see, Amazon drones didn't include a star review on "versatility" when rating a vise out of the box, it functions as one should Jaws are open and closed smoothly. A swivel and locking mechanism secures the base. It is pretty much overkill to file an engine block out of billet unless you're doing so for engine production. It's nice to have the pipe clamp feature, but it's not revolutionary. The robustness of the system is yet to be determined. I haven't dropped it 12 feet onto concrete or smacked it with a sledge yet. It will probably be left to the Darwin awardees to solve that problem.
I am very pleased with the quality of the metal and welding. In addition, it has a very nice finish. It is easy to alight the jaws and they If I had to guess, I'd say its worth every penny. If I had to buy it again, I would!.
The vise is really a formidable tool. I tried 3 brand vises before I bought this one, but returned them all. There were great reviews for each one, but they were all bad. There are too many dead-ends, no alignment, warped mounts, etc. Not the Capri, it is all dead-ends. In comparison to other anvils, this one is enormous. As for the color, I like it Though I do agree that their handle is a little cheesey, it does its job. have to attach a hard rubber "o ring" bumper to the end of it after it's been put on. The water had to be heated up in hot water to get it to work. The repair is straightforward, and the replacement part is readily available (unlike rubber washers on most speakers). If they provided you with a spare set, I would feel a bit better. As a whole, I will recommend the aluminum vise over any of the cast iron versions.
Eventually, I broke down and bought this blue vice after years of frustration with a red Chinese vice. It is an outstanding vise and my only regret is not purchasing it sooner! It is amazing how the clearance ways can be adjusted. There is no play or wobble in the jaws of the vice, and it is smooth and easy to operate. The product is nice and the price is fair.
It's a beast, super well built, and I anticipate that I will never need anything else in my home shop in the future. There was only one thing I wish I had done differently I would have chosen the 7".
A vise like this was exactly what I needed for small projects in the garage.
