Questions & Answers

How well does it perform in cutting oak shoe molds?

The answer is yes. It is important to have strong gripping power. As part of my work, I cut all kinds of shoe moulding

For tile, does it cut the shluter strips?

It would be ok if it was wood or plastic. If it were aluminum, i would recommend using an aviation snip

When it comes to a cutting blade, what is its opening size?

In a 90 degree angle

Rather useless due to a major flaw
3/5

Almost as good as the first, but with one major flaw. After reading reviews of other similar snips, I decided to get this particular pair of snips because they had been said to be difficult to change blades, etc. However, it only took one cut to realize that the advantage gained in blade changing is a huge issue when actually cutting. There was little to no debris left after the first quarter of an inch of the cut, but then it became It is the lip at the top of the blade (highlighted in the picture) that catches the item you are trying to cut and prevents it from making a clean enough cut through it. By the time it has finished, it has broken the material, leaving you with a mangled, unusable piece of plastic. The edge of the piece arrived mangled no matter which way I angled it. I tried at least a half dozen times from different angles. Please bear in mind that if you're only cutting materials with a thickness of less than 1/4 inch, this tool is likely to be perfect for you.

The blade is not sharp enough to make Popsicle sticks, but the tool does the job as intended
4/5

A built-in angle fraction selector allows it to cut wood in varying angles quite effortlessly - you only need to press the toggle switch to make adjustments and it's ready to use. Popsicle sticks have been cut 45 degrees and have a width of 0. I tested this on popsicle sticks in width A 6mm, 1mm and a 2mm sample are available. A 4mm thick. Zero is the number zero. I found the 6mm and 1mm widths to cut quite easily. The cut was not as easy as butter, though it did require some force to complete the whole The piece is 4mm in diameter. It's a decent tool to have in a toolbox, and for its price ($28), it's a great buy. I found it to be very useful for 99 dollars. Here are some things to keep in mind from my first impressions and experience. The negative notes are as follows Although I wanted to rate this item as a 5 star item, I only gave it 4 stars due to the blade being not sharp enough. The stock blade and the extra one that comes with it are both a bit dull, in my opinion. When I cut the 2 with the dull blade, I imagine that the knife would be more sharp. The cuts were more precise and the result was better-looking overall, and it would have been much easier with a 4mm piece I see from my image that there are minor fractions of wood embedded in each cut with all the Popsicle sticks widths I tested, and this could account for the uneven alignment of the cuts. Before and during the cutting, I really did hold each piece straight on the fraction angle selector.

To sum it all This would be an item with rare qualities if it had a sharp blade, though if one goes down that route meticulous care should be taken Ask someone who is experienced in sharpening blades to do it for you if you're not sure how. The multi angle cutter market offers plenty of options to choose from, but their prices vary considerably, and not all of them have a built-in angle fraction selector, so all cuts must be done by eye without it.

Wow, there are a lot of I am very satisfied with the shipping, customer service and communication
3/5

It is an interesting tool, but I have mixed feelings about it. A good build quality has been achieved. This tool feels solid and heavy due to its metal construction. My blade was sharp (at least I found it to be). You get a spare blade which I think is super cool! It is possible to exchange and sharpen as necessary. I'm not a fan of the grip on the handles. The rings are made of generic red shiny plastic, not the soft, The knobs of their fingers are spongy. This thing has a kind of a jerky grip on it. There was no problem with the cutting plate. In addition to being bold, the numbers and lines are clear to read. Unlike its built-in counterpart, the small backstop does not lock into place, rather it just clicks in place. have, it is loose and I have not yet been able to figure out how to fix A tool like this is particularly effective at cutting soft materials. The pine quarter round and the white foam trim on the blue big box were easy to cut. Shears cut the paper clean and accurately (for they are When I put them on quarters they didn't stay on Quarter round made of vinyl that is over an inch thick is not allowed. The knife did not make a cut in my hand. As soon as I clamped down, the tool started rolling or my grip began to slip. When I tried cutting oak quarter round, it was extremely difficult to get it out. To get through, I used a pumping grip. In the event you apply too much effort to the tool, or you aren't as tight as you should be, or the material slips, the angle of the cut will not be 45°. It is a good concept and may prove to be a very useful tool in the future. All it needs is a few tweaks in quality.

I was not able to get this to work
3/5

The concept of this tool is great, but if it weren't for its excellent execution, I would only give it After the first cut, the blade bent and broke out three pieces along the cutting edge and, consequently, bent and broke off an entire wedge. With this tool, you are provided with a replacement blade, but without a press and the correct size punch, it is impossible to replace the blade since the sleeve holding it in place is pressed into the handle. In order to accomplish my task within the 30 miles I had to travel, I visited the local blue roof home improvement store, but they only had the same tools, so I purchased a cheap miter box and had to hand-cut all the wood In the future, I wouldn't be so trusting of a new tool until it has proven itself.

My theory is that bad design means inaccurate cuts
3/5

I bought this cutter to cut shoe moulding, and I can't see how it would make accurate cuts. This causes the blade to push the moulding away from the stop as it cuts, leading to an incorrect It is best for the stock stop guide to be on the opposite side so that the material is pushed against it as the blade descends.

The day it was purchased paid for itself
5/5

The molds I use in my mobile homes that I renovate for rental are plastic. On a recent job, I saved several hundred trips outside to the miter saw with this tool. Obviously, it can't replicate the precision of a miter saw. However, I don't need high levels of precision since the moldings may need to be replaced again in the future once.

There were a couple of quality control issues
3/5

First, I received the tool on the left which is not a miter cutter. The item I believe is a tile cutting tool, which has nothing to do with the item To compare, you can see a picture of the replacement tool on the right. It even had rust on the screw retaining the cutter The new tool was supposed to replace the old one. As I requested an exchange, upon receiving the right tool, I was disappointed to discover there wasn't a logo from Red Oak This machine appears very generic, and as you can see in the second picture, the cutting bed is curved, and is thus not even close to horizontal. It appears that the seller is having a lot of quality control problems If you want your tools somewhere else, I recommend you do so.
