When I first opened the box, there were a couple of issues. One was that the entire set was heavily oil-coated to prevent rust. I can understand a light coating, but this was excessive; fortunately, everything was wrapped in plastic, but wiping everything down took a long time. br>br>The second issue was that none of the punches were marked with their sizes. Although the stand had markings, they were so faint that reading them was nearly impossible. I had to figure out what size transfer punch each of them was and then make new labels for each of them. The dimensions (in inches) are as follows: Row 1: br>br> br> br> br> br> br> Row 2: 1/32, 7/64, 1/8, 9/64, 3/32, 11/64, 3/16, 13/64, 7/32, 15/64, 1/4, 17/64br> Row 3: 1/32, 7/64, 1/8, 9/64, 3/32, 11/64, 3/16, 13/64, 7/32, 15/64, 1/4, 17/64, 7/32, 15/64, 1/4, 17 Row 3: 13/32, 25/64, 3/8, 23/64, 11/32, 21/64, 5/16, 19/64, 9/32br> Row 4: 13/32, 25/64, 3/8, 23/64, 11/32, 21/64, 5/16, 19/64, 9/32br> Row 5: 13/32, 25/ 27/64, 7/16, 29/64, 15/32, 11/64, 1/2, 17/32br>br>I haven't measured the punches to make sure they're the right size. After I've had a chance to use them for a while, I'll post any additional thoughts.
These are nice to have, but I won't be using them very often; I'll be using them more for wood, so they should last a long time. Although the stand appears to be sturdy and is made of steel, it is crooked and rocks a lot on a flat surface; however, this is not a deal breaker. The points on two of the punches were a little flat, but they worked fine? br>I tested these in wood, steel, and stainless steel, and they do leave a mark, but only when struck lightly. It's the same with any transfer punch. I believe they are adequate for the price, but they are only worth three stars in my opinion.
Punches for transfer are extremely precise and precise.
It's obvious that it was made in China. In a precision machine shop, I wouldn't use this. However, it fulfills my needs for hobby woodworking at a reasonable price.
I use this set for dot painting and find it to be very useful.
Decent.
I used the reverse end to change the size of my dots, which was great for pointalusm style art!.
