Yes. As of 2020, all products are still made in the United States.
If that's the case, you should look into drivers. You'll bend these, or any of the longer ones, if you don't bend them. The drivers are about 1/4" long and are used to start a pin, which is then followed by these. Both metric and imperial units are available. Grace makes a lovely set, no doubt.
I believe these punches are covered by a one-year material and workmanship warranty - However, you should call Starrett toll-free at: br>1 (888) 674-4444444444444444444444444444444444444444 7443
Not sure. I also bought the small set, which came with a pouch, but not the larger one, as you know. I simply store them in the box in which they were delivered.

"Set of eight," it says. There were five of them in the set. The box said 5, and there were five inside, but the description says 8, and there are eight different sizes listed. br>br>Advertising that isn't true. Returning is a strong possibility, especially in light of recent events. I was more interested in the smaller sizes because there were five larger sizes available.
These are still made in the United States, have a nice long length, and good hardened steel pins. Handles are aggressively knurled and have a diameter of about 1/2". I'm not sure why Starrett doesn't chamfer the end of the 248 series like they do on all of their other punches and striking tools, but it does have a small chamfer with about a 1/16" face. I anticipate that these will need to be regrinded more frequently. These punches (both in steel and brass) are slightly undersized, according to Starrett, but they aren't mentioned on Amazon. This is correct, but it is unlikely that anyone cares. For those who are interested, these are the measurements I took (both axes appear to be perfectly round, straight, and true). for now): 030" below (3/8"); 020" below (3/8"); 020" below (3/8 5/16" under 010"; and approximately 0. The three smaller sizes are denoted by "007" below. I will buy and recommend these punches again. It is far superior to any of the Chinese punches, and it appears that finding a long straight in any of the remaining US brands is becoming increasingly difficult. No pouch. If you require it, spend a few dollars more and look for a listing that includes the word "PC" after the model number.
I'll start by saying that I'm removing a tapered pin from a differential that was originally punched in the wrong direction with the wrong punch size, so your results may vary. The 3/16(5mm) punch is the only one I've used so far. Initially, it appeared to be of good quality, but after a few hits, the head mushroomed, and the pin end shattered. br>br>I bought it because it was the only one in the area that was the right size and length, and Starrett is known for their high quality, but I was disappointed with how quickly it deformed and shattered. For future projects, I'm leery of using any of the other punches in the set. br>br>In the end, I modified a cheaper harborfreight set I already had (it was missing the 3/16, so I ground the 1/4 to size) to work with very little head mushrooming and minor pin end deflection. br>br>I can't seem to get any pictures to upload. If it works later, I'll post pictures.
I've had good brand name punches that bend and break, but these Starrett punches don't. These are, without a doubt, the best punches I've ever used. Handcrafted to perfection! The handles are perfectly knurled, making them easy to hold and preventing them from slipping out of your hands when you strike them. Thank you, Starrett, for making such a great product!.
a handcrafted item Simply the very best! Steel of the highest quality, with the highest level of craftsmanship! Anything made by this company will make you proud to own it! Keep up the good work, and thank you for your support!.
I work as a mechanic in a factory, and I constantly hear that punches don't matter, that the cheapest option is the best option, and so on. But I can tell you that in the few days that I waited for these, the ones I bought from Lowes bent, broke, or chipped! This is not, by any means, a harsh usage scenario. I've been in maintenance for seven years and have only had a couple of the tiniest starrett punches break, which is understandable. Do yourself a favor and buy products that will last you years rather than weeks; after all, is it really cheaper to buy them over and over?.
The punches themselves are of excellent quality. Because it does not include the pouch shown, I gave this set three stars. I didn't notice that the pouch wasn't included in the product description when I read it. I don't mind that the pouch doesn't come with the punches; however, other buyers may want one because it's shown in the picture. I've had Starrett punches for a long time and have never had a problem with them. These are excellent punches; however, don't expect a pouch with them.
Standard punches come in a variety of styles, but the majority of them are only one punch. When you need something longer than 2", these are good quality and not too expensive.
