These Nail sets came from Amazon and I have just used them for the first time. They seem to be of good quality and work well. On the other hand, I was dissatisfied with the misleading information on Amazon where the picture of the item indicates the United States. What I received was not what was pictured, where the USA was missing and a China label was on the package. It might have been better for me to choose another nail set had I known this. A fix needs to be made to Amazon's misleading product image.
It shows up on the screen as a made in China item despite being shown as made in the USA in the photo. If this isn't important to you, what matters is- Nevertheless, it makes a lot of sense to me. There is another 2017 review that says exactly the same thing and asks Stanley Black and Decker to update it. I did not see it.
The larger more ergonomic nail sets would be better for professional use, coupled with a bright color so they are easier to see if dropped. However, for the occasional project in the garage or around the house that requires a nail set or punch, this set is great. My husband and I have used them every so often over the last couple of years, and we have no complaints for the price of $8 for three. When hammer blows strike the tip, the impact is properly transferred This set won't sting the hand you hold it in. In addition, they are constructed from metal that is of high quality It has been used quite extensively, but the metal hasn't chipped or deformed in the slightest.
As you can see, this set of Stanley nail set tools is pretty standard issue, with three of the most commonly used sizes, which I used for years with #4d, #6d and #8d finish nails for routine trim and finishing The wheels are imported, but they appear to be made from good quality steel and are holding up well under the amount of use they receive. When I consider what I paid here on Amazon, I'm satisfied with them and will likely purchase them again when required in the future.
purchased a De Walt punch set (DWHT58018) at the local hardware store and thought they were fine. The punch recess in the tip is a bit rough, but worse was that after a week of use the plastic and rubber housing started to separate from the metal core. This is garbage. Once upon a time, I had a set of these Stanleys, and they are still as good as ever. This product is not to be missed. In comparison to the De Walts, the tapped heads have a much pronounced recessed tip, which makes it much easier to center the heads on a nail. The best part is that they are metal with a square top at the head and cross cuts at the handle, so you always get a good You should apply a light coat of mineral oil to them after making use to prevent rust, as this is the only way to kill the rust.
The fact that it is made in China disappointed me, as did several other reviewers. My usual practice is to carefully read reviews and scrutinize products before buying, but this product caught my eye when it had "USA" and a high overall rating and I bought it right away. The made in China statement is nowhere to be found on this page or on any other page. Rather than going to my local hardware store, I've been going to my local home improvement store. To fulfill this need, you should shop on Amazon. No longer able to rely on them.
The complaints are not valid. Using this set, we managed to loosen the back of a chair that had fallen on its side, relieving it of pressure. However, a small nail had also come loose, which had to be glued. As a result, we sent for this set because we couldn't figure out how to hit a nail with a hammer. As I lined up one of these punches, I quickly tapped the hammer a few times to put the tiny nail back into place. We were just in time to save our dining room chair with this set.
When I used a philips screwdriver to nail, it was because there were a lot of detail moldings and many nails. But lately, I painted a room with a lot of molding and many tiny Years ago, I would have loved having these. Each one of them has a slightly dimpled point to catch on the nail. Use a hammer to pound the nail in and you're done.
