Questions & Answers

In what way is the warranty offered?

The following statement is made by For all our precision tools, there is a one-year warranty from the date of purchase against defects in workmanship and materials.

Does this unit consist of one unit? Would you rather have a 5mm or a There is an error in the size of the inch that is listed as both but is actually one 16th inch. The file will be too large at 587 and will have to be split into 2. Does the 5mm pin have a specific diameter?

I know this question is from early 2021, but as of 2021 they are number It's actually 5mm (as a matter of fact). I have a mic that has 0597 on it. There is a slight relief (for the rest of the length) at the tip of the rod. The exponent is. It may be necessary for you to use a quality watchmaker's punch, which would be OK as long as the fit is not too terribly snug or frozen (a center punch can be used to get the hole started). This would be a smarter approach, as well). In the 90s, I obtained a similar one. However, I did not bother to measure that old model.

A picture is of a set of punches, but the description refers to only one punch measuring 1/8". How will the buyer be able to use their purchase?

For that price, you can just have one. The 1/8" is the third smallest in the set shown (about 1/4"). In the second hour of the clock). If you think you may need them all, you are better off buying the entire set.

Hardened steel is used for these punches. What kind of steel is used?

There is not much specificity in Starrett punches, they come in brass, aluminum and steel. They may be able to provide more information about their customer services. You can reach us at (888) 674-2675

This was a replacement for one that I had bought in the 90s and it had finally gotten so battered it needed replacing. It's still made in the USA, and it's still tempered to a great degree of precision. These smaller punches are excellent, but they should offer them in a longer length as well. It is possible to get these from Gedore The 2021 punch does indeed measure 1. I did not measure my old one, but in response to a sizing inquiry, the old one measured 2. It is about 5mm at the tip of the needle (actually about 1mm). It would be more accurate to use 1/16" instead of 516mm. For the remainder of its length, it is correctly relieved and slightly rounded. Rather, it is 9/16" - the pin length that can be used. You can extend the length of the Gedore 1 if you need more punching power, while still getting a high quality punch. This may be a small point, but 5mm is 30mm (just over twice the length) and those are far better than most long punches. The only exception is the Mayhew Pro series (but the Gedore does not have a roll pin nib). Tekton is good for the price, still made in the US, but both length and quality are on the middle side. All of these punches are comparatively delicate (especially these large ones), so if you have particularly tight fitting pins or rusted or frozen ones, you'll want to get them started with a drop of penetrant and a center punch, then follow with this punch. Similarly to broken drill bits and taps, a broken punch is usually caused by operator error or bad luck, but if you get one that comes apart, Starrett is likely to replace it if you ask (although a new one will probably be more cost-effective).

A solid foundation
5/5

Dasco is not as good as this. After receiving a couple of these, I can see it is not just me who is breaking 1/16th punches all the time. I thought it was only me, but after seeing another couple of these, I can see it is As long as these continue to perform, there will be no deformation. Pin punches that are very solid and can handle a lot of In my experience, Dasco punches mushroom at their striking point, but they don't with these! It also has knurled handles, which makes it even more remarkable. It is much easier to maintain punch stability with this tool. The surface of the Dasco punches is smooth and they are painted, so they will slide. I'm sorry Dasco, I appreciate you making your products in the United States, but obviously, you're not up to the competition.

I appreciate the great customer service
5/5

It is a set of several sizes of punches that I had purchased. In one place, the 1/16" shattered after I used it for a few taps. The tempering process made the steel brittle because of a very small imperfection in the steel. No problems were encountered with the rest of the sizes. The following weekend was the weekend, so I left Starrett a message on her answering machine explaining how the vase Upon receiving the old one, I sent it back to Amazon for replacement. Getting a new one as an apology was great. Starrett just called and yes, they are sending me a new one. This shows they really want the customer to be happy even though I already have one that will arrive soon from Amazon! The experts told me it was not normal for one of them to shatter in this way, that under excessive stress, it may bend but not splinter like that. It blew me away that a company cared enough to go the extra mile. The brand of precision took I purchase from any other company will never be the same. Whenever I need a tool, I check with Starrett.

Some pin joints equipped with the Voyager class evacuating cybertron were constructed using these
5/5

The pin joints on the Voyager class evac cybertron have this. A perfect removal of the pins was achieved. In this case, I didn't use a hammer, but used the pin punch on my workbench, and pushed it through the pin.

NOTE For removing pins from toys, it's very important not to push from the knurled side, which usually has a star pattern of rougher texture than the smooth side. If you do this, you will loosen the joint and it may even crack the hole around it. If you need help with pins in guns or sights, I cannot help. To fix broken toys, I only bought this for use on toys.

It's The Strongest, It's The Best! One of the pin punches that I bought a few days ago from Amazon is BENT! The 1/16", 3/32" and 1/8" Punches are all bent! There needs to be a 1/16" that will not bend under a little tap
5/5

The reviews on Amazon for the STARRET 565A 1/16" Punch just concluded, so let me tell you what I read. Reviewers insisted that I purchase the STARRET 565A 1/16" PUNCH from AMAZON after reading these positive reviews. We received the order very fast and it was FREE Shipping. I find the STARRET punch to be the strongest and best 1/16" punch I have ever handled! In addition, I will order the next three (4) larger punches. If that 1/16" punch was this strong, then I have no doubt the next 3 larger punches will be just as strong or even stronger! *BR> THE BEST AND EASIEST PUNCH ARE THE STARRET PUNCHES I highly recommend you buy them!.

Roll pins can be removed with ease under side pressure with this tool
5/5

This is my go-to tool at work, where I constantly take apart and reassemble small items used in our machines after they need to be repaired. Having not used this brand for four months, I wanted to try it after I broke my other brand four times during that time. My punch has been used about 30 times so far and I do not see any signs of bending. In the case of the other brand, I would have straightened them at least once by now.

This is an awesome pin punch set
5/5

The Starrett Company is a very old manufacturer, but in this case it pays off to not improve on perfection. For several years, I had been purchasing these punches wholesale through industrial and tool when we would rather span a distance instead of getting a hammer so close to sensitive components within an auto, when using these to fix a I use this punch set for a wide variety of jobs. As a locksmith, I use it all the time. In regards to the knurled handles and longer pins before the taper to the knurled area, they have become an "accept no substitutes" item for City Lock. If I only needed one or two, I would have used Snap-On Locks instead. In all cases, Amazon really came through for me in this case as I buy 30 at a time.

In this case, On got them for me, but I need a wholesale price because I buy 30 at a time.
