The only issue I have with these is how difficult it is to obtain a warranty for any of their products from Gear Wrench. I'm not going to buy anything else from them in the future. For the same price, I would consider Tekton as a better option.
As a diesel mechanic, I put a lot of wear and tear on my equipment. Because of the warranty and the need for quality, I buy a lot of tools off the trucks. I've always liked the Gearwrench brand of punches and chisels because they're of excellent quality. I've waited longer for a tool truck to return to the shop than I have for a Gearwrench warrantied tool, and I've waited longer for a tool truck to return to the shop than I have for a Gearwrench warrantied tool.
It's a fantastic value for the price and set you get. br>br>The set appeals to me. The case that comes with it is excellent. The chisels are sharp enough, and the punches don't dull or break the first few times you use them, in my experience.
The tips of the 1/4" and 3/8" chisels were completely ruined the first time they were used to pound out some badly rusted retaining clips on u joints. I would have given 2 or 3 stars if it hadn't been for the fact that replacements were on their way to my house after a 5-minute phone call to Apex Tools. I appreciate how simple and quick the warranty process is, but these should be made of a more durable material. So far, the punches haven't caused me any problems.
To be honest, I'm not sure how every family doesn't have one! It's as if you don't have a hammer at your disposal! br>br>In the past, I had a small punch set that I was happy with. I'm also not sure where it went. Without realizing how often I complained about not having a punch or a drill guide, my wife decided to buy this set (gearwrench is my preferred brand of tools because of their high quality and low cost). This is a massive package! It has everything a DIYer needs. Clean, substantial, and long-lasting. br>br>The carrying case is standard; in fact, almost all punch sets, if not all of them, come in a similar package. However, I wish they'd start making a flap at the end so the final punch wouldn't fall out or be prone to being tossed around in the elements.
A cotter pin was stuck in a ball joint, and I couldn't get it out. To begin, remove any extraneous pins with the cold chisel included in this set. After that, make a dimple with the center punch. I punched out the cotter pin through the ball joint with a straight punch after drilling it out with a tek screw. This is an outstanding collection. There will be no bending or chipping of the material.
I'm blown away. So far, their tools have impressed me, and the punches haven't let me down. They come in a nice case, despite the fact that they are a little pricey. For the price, you also get a lot of punches. On the holding case and each punch, they are also clearly labeled.
This is yet another great set I discovered on Amazon. Excellent value for money and a lightning-quick turnaround. Thank you very much.
