Questions & Answers

What is the country of origin of this product?

His origin is not indicated by any markings. Based on my guess, this product does not come from the U.S.

When and where did they make it?

Japan is where this tool is made.

Could this be used on thick cardboard, or is this too much to have as a papercraft? As much as possible, I want to use the tension adjustment when making ?

In addition to metal, this tool is commonly used for plastic. I feel that this would be overkill when it comes to If you want to buy a prick punch that is not automatic (it has a sharper point), I recommend one with a prick point.

Starrett is more expensive, but the tool is of good quality
5/5

It would be great if I could use a spring center punch, but I had a bad import. In my search for the Starrett, I expected to find one. Since the brand I selected has good reviews and I was willing to save a few dollars, I bought this. It is not something I regret I would have ordered the Starrett just based on reputation alone if I had the kind of job that required me to carry a punch on the go, but I would recommend the Fowler for home mechanics who usually do their own maintenance. Aside from being reliable, large enough to hold, and not visible deformed from use on mild steel, it is also easy to handle. The edge will need to be sharpened eventually, but the edge will remain crisp for a good long time. As I tried it on a forged wrench, it left small marks in the hardened steel, but too small to connect a reasonably sized drill bit. The wrench also flattened quite a bit after a few of my tests, but nothing so bad that I couldn't repair it with a few seconds on the belt grinder. Although I have no idea how the Starrett would perform on the wrench, I think potential buyers may find it useful to know how much punch it can make.

The punch was great
5/5

I was not expecting it to be quite as heavy as it is. Despite its price, it looks to be well built, its threaded parts look durable, and they won't break any time There is no reason for you not to buy this. It's true that a punched divot isn't as deep as one made with a hammer and center punch, but that's In terms of the strength of the punch, it doesn't seem like the adjustment is very significant. There is an obvious difference in the depths of the divots, but not You can see the photos here. It was the most comfortable for me to use Min with the cap unscrewed. There are only about 4 threads remaining to come With the cap fully screwed in, Max is in perfect working order. In order to serve as a reference, I punched aluminum and steel. If the process is carried out on wood, you will not need the punch mechanism since you will have your divot well before it starts A heavy duty awl is exactly what it is, since it is primarily used for wood.

I was unable to get it to The defective unit is most likely to be the cause
3/5

This product does not work for me, so maybe I received a defective product. There is usually no way to press the punch Most of the time I just can't get the punch to plunge down into the body of the unit sometimes it works, but most of the time it fails to mark the metal with the explosive punch. I finally managed to get the unit to work, but it took maybe 1 out of 30 attempts to get it to work. Yet even then, there was barely a mark left from the punch in the center. The experience was disappointing to say the least. I eventually had to borrow my neighbor's center punch to complete.

I was surprised by how much bigger it was than I expected
5/5

You should look elsewhere if you're looking for a slim, lightweight auto punch you can slip into a pencil pocket. This is the 52nd issue of the Fowler From 500 to "Super heavy duty" is the description given to the 290. The answer is yes. This is long, large in diameter, and heavy when compared to others. A lot of power can be delivered from this weapon. While setting the punch fully strength with the back cap fully fixed, it also took quite a bit of effort. However, it surprised me how lightweight the punch can be. This cap is designed to have a lot of travel and at the light end it can be used on It covers everything I need in an auto punch for me. My preference is to punch by hand and with a finer tip when I need to punch delicately or very finely. The tool is excellent. The results were not only bigger than expected (as reported in the headline), but they were also The box was delivered in perfect condition in a simple box. It is another Fowler box and also clearly marked "Made in Japan" as opposed to most reviews.

All it takes is a single punch to bring an end to it! Due to the fact that the tool is MADE IN JAPAN, I'm hoping to gain some sort of benefit
3/5

In fact, it couldn't be further from the truth! A total of ZER0 punches were struck before the tip self-reversed We found mild steel to be corrosive. *** I am writing to make clear that this is my first and last experience dealing with this company FOWLER. The most I can do is learn as much as I can about my own experience, not tell anyone how to spend their money. Having a /br>P. side note, I'm willing to accept that I might have been mugged, if my purchase turned out to be a fake, but we'll never know for sure.

I have updated It was just a matter of rebuilding
4/5

I have updated As soon as the thing is rebuilt. After I realized it was incorrectly arranged, I took it apart. I fixed my issues by substituting the rear spring and anvil and it's worked great ten times in a row so far. As a plunger on a spring, it only works. A center punch machine should automatically punch the center of the sheet. My first attempt at getting it to work worked 1 out of 100 times. It's a complete waste of time. You can either buy a Starrett or you can.

This is a good tool to use for center punching
4/5

It was originally a Chinese center punch tool that cost It worked for a while, but over a period of about two years it stopped working During the third month, it weakened more and more. As I disassembled it, I cleaned up any crumbs and filed the edges smooth. The punches are still not very good. It was just impossible for the springs inside to stand After purchasing this Fowler center punch, I also purchased some felt. It is as if night and day have changed! It has much beefier parts, a much harder punch, and a This is way better than the old one. What are the chances of the hammering action lasting? Until I know more, I have no idea. New tool, so make use of it carefully.

Quality auto punch at an affordable price
5/5

To compare this to my old General Tools auto punch is equivalent to comparing a 9mm to an It has a thicker, heavier handle that makes it easy to handle. With an adjusted tension that stays where you twist it, the tip is wider and thicker than most other tips. There is only one thing that bothers me, which is that the new spring is so much stronger than my old one that I feel tempted to bang it with a mallet just because my old one was not so strong The hands of the tunnel are getting weaker and weaker. I should be able to keep it for eternity if I don't lose it. The cost was low enough for me to buy two replacement generals, however they are no longer family members. Neither owned or made in the USA, and while this isn't an American product, it has many similarities to it No matter what I make, I am always disappointed with the outcome- Imports at a discount are hit or miss. It is recommended.
