Yes, that is possible. I imagine it'd be difficult to keep the pressure on the ends under control, but it does have a pole hole!

I'm a drywall finisher who works on a regular basis. This is the tool that I use most frequently. It's a dream to be able to skim walls over old texture. There's no need to sand them because they're as smooth as a plaster putty coat. Similar to drywall joints, you can really feather the edges so quickly; however, the real dream comes when you're doing patches, which I do a lot of. I ordered both sizes and also have some others by a different manufacturer, but these are by far the best because the blade is wider, making it easier to scrape the mud into the pan as you work. The blade on the others, like a squeegee, is narrower and you can't easily scrape them off into the pan while working. If I had a ten-star rating system, I would give this product ten stars.
Having never done any kind of skim coating before, I was looking for any advantage I could get, and I heard that this type of tool could make the job a lot easier. br>br>This unquestionably gave me the upper hand. It took only a few passes for me to get the hang of it, and once I did, the work moved quickly. I spent more time smoothing out the ceiling with this tool than I did mixing up the joint compound to the right consistency and applying it to the ceiling. It was very simple to smooth things out and leave only minor ridges or marks. br>br>The 18-inch width was ideal for my project's size, and I wouldn't have wanted anything narrower. If I were working on a bigger project, I'd probably go with a wider model. br>br>As previously stated, I was smoothing out a very coarse sand texture that had been applied to the ceiling the last time it had been painted. Due to getting the feel of it and applying too much pressure at first, that texture scraped up the rubber edge a little on the first coat or two, so the rubber edge on mine isn't completely smooth anymore and was leaving very fine lines on the final coat. However, any lines that remained were quickly removed by going over them with a damp sponge. br>br>While I can't speak to how it would hold up to daily use in the hands of someone who does this work for a living, it worked beautifully for me on my one project, and I'm keeping it on hand for future projects as well.
Adding texture to the walls I've done a fair amount of mudding over the years and have always detested it. I'm de-cluttering my parents' new old house these days. Texturing the walls and ceilings is a time-consuming process. I'm always looking for ways to improve my efficiency, and this is by far the best money I've ever spent doing so. This tool allows me to get smooth results with almost no ridges which cuts down on the sanding by 1000% for those who have left negative reviews I would recommend making.
I bought it with the intention of using it to float the textured walls of a two-bedroom house (1500 square feet). It had only completed a quarter of the job! This "tool" is nothing more than a toy! It was also an expensive toy and a difficult lesson learned at the price I paid for it. The squeegee is poorly designed and not built to last; even before I used it, I had my doubts and suspected there would be a problem because the rubber edge was fused to the plastic body when I received it. When it began to be used more frequently, the rubber "blade" separated at both ends, dangling about 3" on one end and 1" on the other. Although it appears to be a nice tool, a mechanical connection, similar to the one used by regular window squeegees, would have prevented this issue. It wasn't necessary to invent the wheel from scratch. Unfortunately, due to the slow pace of my project, I didn't get to fully utilize this tool until after the return policy had expired, which was a month later, at which point I would have gladly returned it for a refund. I'm thinking of finishing the job with a car squeegee for a fraction of the price!.
This tool is perfect for the job; after a few practice runs to get used to the interface, I was off and running with the project in no time; a great tool to have on hand for my next job, which isn't far away.
It's fantastic and really works! Cleaning and caring for this item is simple. The product was described accurately and exactly as it had been advertised. Arrived on time and in good condition. (no damage) tact If you're having trouble smoothing out a project, this is a must-have.
I like the concept of this item, but it took me too long to get it to fit to the wall in a consistent manner. As a result, the mud was applied unevenly to the wall. Perhaps it would work better on a different drywall project or with a more powerful person. Using the same technique and a 14" mud knife, I was able to achieve excellent results.
This is a terrible situation. I bought it for skim coating after seeing how well it worked with the magic trowel, and now my walls are a hot mess. It's not smooth, and one side is uneven in comparison to the other. I am certain that I will return.
