Ditra membrane was sold in all local (big box) stores, but none had a 11/64 x 11/64 trowel. They're similar in size, like the next size up, but I didn't want to risk changing and laying down too much or too little mud. So, just in case, I purchased the correct tool for the job. It wasn't much, and the trowel itself is quite nice. br>br>If you've never tiled before, remember to fill the bucket halfway with water before pouring in the cement. I threw the entire bag in and then added water, but getting the bottom to mix was impossible. So my mud was a little watery, which didn't seem right, and I realized my mistake halfway through the process. So I started by mixing half of the bucket first, then adding the rest of the cement to the dilute mixture. The Ditra membrane was installed exactly as instructed, and the tiles adhered to it admirably. The new floor has performed admirably thus far.
I've worked with SCHLUTER Products before and have always been impressed with the quality of their products. This isn't any different.
I liked the Kerdi system and Ditra membrane on this trowel. However, because I was only using it for a one-time project, I believe a less expensive trowel (e. g. , e. g. , e. g. , e. g. , g from Home Depot) would have sufficed, and is recommended for professionals who use Ditra on a regular basis.
It performs as expected. Today, I used the trowel to lay down some Ditra membrane; It wasn't quite as simple as the videos make it appear, but it was my first try. The only flaw I see with the trowel is that it has grooves in the handle that are difficult to clean out of mortar.
However, I was unable to locate a size for the Sites that was comparable. It does exactly what it says.
It's ideal for the intended purpose, and I adore it. And they're hard to come by for a reasonable price in the area.
The quality is good, but it comes at a higher price. It would be preferable if it were made of stainless steel.
This is the proper size for securing Ditra to the ground. It's a good product, but it's a little too expensive.
