I'm a complete novice when it comes to stucco repair. This was ideal for me because it was neither too big nor too heavy. It appeals to me perfectly.
The aluminum surface measures 13" x 13" and is thick and sturdy enough to hold a lot of mud while remaining light and easy to handle. br>br>The top of the handle has a foam grip ring that rests softly against your hand, and the natural wood handle is very comfortable to hold for long periods of time.
I bought it because I needed a good hawk for a small job (three rooms, two closets) and didn't want to spend a lot of money. It's a fairly straightforward tool, so you expect it to perform admirably. The issue is that the edges are gradually becoming nicked in a few places, making it impossible for me to use it to smooth out my knives. It's possible that I'll have to grind it down, but I shouldn't. Overall, I suppose you get what you pay for, but if you want something that will last, it's probably worth it to invest in a better model.
They placed a difficult-to-remove sticker directly on top of the work surface. Before I could use it, I had to scrape it off with a knife and some oil (which caused a gouge). At the very least, they should have placed the sticker on the bottom or used a removable adhesive.
Good product; I would have given it five stars if I hadn't found a cheaper version at Home Depot.
It's a lot easier to muddle and tape with this. Hawk is more ergonomic than pans, and it lets you catch drips while working on ceilings. Scraping your trowel between application and smoothing is also a breeze.
It appeals to me because it is much more powerful than I anticipated.
This is ideal for the do-it-yourselfer. With a 13-inch diameter and a reasonable price, this is a great size.
