Questions & Answers

Comparing it to a Fiskars mini saw, what do you think?

The Silky saw is a professional quality push pull saw with razor sharp teeth. Tree limbs and small trees will be sliced like butter by it. This Fiskars saw costs less than the Silky saw and is a good, well-made saw

Do you sell a medium tooth and fine tooth replacement blade for the What is the price of 25 pro models? Do you know how much money it is?

A 717-type model can be used for this purpose Silky GomBoy handles allow you to adjust the blade size (240mm) to suit your needs. Currently, the straight blade (medium teeth) is available on this Amazon ABN 0B000CEAX9C. Currently, Silky does not have a fine tooth version, but it is one of the products they make. Avoid dealing with Japanese resellers as Silky's Limited Lifetime Warranty does not apply to them.

Is there a breakage issue with the blade?

When used properly, it is not a problem. Blades of this type work by pulling out. There are some who have broken them in the past, but I have never had a problem with them. I have never used a better saw.

Your belt attaches to the sheath. What is the procedure?

You pop off the sheath rubber attachment and let it swivel away from the belt, then slide the sheath rubber/polymer section behind the belt and snap it shut. The sheath becomes even more secure to the belt as the sheath is towed downward (by gravity). A very clever way to attach it to the belt and remove it quickly at the same time.

I cannot believe how sharp this saw is
5/5

Don't let anything go wrong Cuts must be made ONLY on the pull! The saw is fantastic. If you're careful to let off pressure at the end of the push stroke, it goes through wood like butter. Even with the large bag, it took several minutes for the 9 to go through an 11" fallen pine. No binding on the 5" blade! I've read plenty of reviews claiming these saws are junk because the thin blade bends and can break easily, but if you're not trying to break speed records and take it slow, you'll be fine. The best advice I can give you is printed on the package Don't worry about it. Just let the saw do the work and be sure to wear safety gloves.

A poor quality control system exists for the blades
3/5

The quality control system is The quality of the saws I own varies from good to poor. Having read the reviews, I decided to buy the Gomboy 240 as an upgrade. This saw is just one of three I own that I used to compare the cuts. I then used the Gomboy once I had made cuts with the cheaper saw. It was a nice cut that came out of the first no, the blade broke 3 inches from the tip during the second cut with the Gomboy. This blade did not show any signs of stress, and the wood was dry and firm. My former career was in automotive engineering, and I noticed signs of brittleness after I examined the break. Heat treatment of the spine of the saw should have made the teeth softer than its spine. There was a problem with the blade, but the saw body looked like it was well made. In my experience, I have never broken a blade in the cheaper saws even under normal use. If you do not replace the blade, I will be seeking a.

As if you were cutting through butter with a hot knife
5/5

This is amazing! I am now a Silky for the first time. This is the first cheap saw I have purchased and used. I've had other cheap saws and thought they were fine too. In no way can there be a Basically, I bought this saw as a bush saw to take out into the woods with me camping or hunting. Based on several reviews I saw on YouTube, I decided it was for me. It took me a few days to decide to see how it performed after receiving it a few days ago. For the house to be cleaned up, I needed to cut some scrub around the house. In my experience, this saw cut trees up to 5 inches thick without any difficulty. I was actually quite surprised at how quickly and easily it sliced through Definitely worth the money invested in a quality product, and glad I spent it on something I could rely on.

Packs easily and is perfect for camping and hiking
5/5

It is my favorite saw of all time. I now have two of them. My truck set had to be smaller so I could fit it in the back pack. The Silky saw performs superbly on cutting like all Silky products. One thing I would like to point out is it does not lock when closed. It is a concern for me when putting it into a pack and taking it out of it. Therefore, the case provides a way to protect both the saw and to prevent accidental opening, but it does add a little weight. Packing it in a truck is less of a concern for me because it will be shipped.

The difference between my Sandvik and this is remarkable
5/5

For literally more than two decades, I have been carrying a Sandvik folding saw in my pack. Since I switched to carrying a small forest axe several years ago, I have used the folding saw fewer and fewer times. The Sandvik seemed to be getting tired the last time I used it two weeks ago when I was clearing a trail with axe and saw. There's still a sharp edge to the teeth but the anti stick coating is fading, so it takes an awful lot of work to cut even two or three inch long The Silky Gomboy arrived today and I immediately were able to test it on some maple limbs up to 5 inches in diameter (it would have been awkward to swing the axe). There had been reports that these saws cut really well, and I was not It did not take long to eliminate the fallen limbs. I feel like it is the same as using a Sandvik saw since it is a natural pull action. Despite being very well made, the saw is also lightweight and I'm not expecting it to be a noticeable addition to My favorite part of the case is the design. I highly recommend this book.

Blade is weak and broke after just a couple of uses
3/5

Comparable to the ones you can buy at your local general hardware store for a fraction of the price. In recognition that it is a PULL blade, when one is cutting a large limb, particularly the larger ones, one's arm can get tired and in a forward stroke, one can accidentally bite into the wood. I was therefore left with a $54 blade that has a third of the blades broken off.

This saw is really nice
4/5

There is a lot of floppy material on the handle. This saw is really nice. There is some over molding at the back which makes the handle a bit floppy. While it is razor sharp, the saw is nearly identical to what I have in my Corona saw, albeit a bit larger and 3X the price. Corona is more plasticy, but both do a nearly identical job in cutting Each saw has a blade with a nearly identical set of teeth and tooth grinding. I carry the Gomboy in my camping bag, but take the Corona to work as my beater saw.

This tool has impressed me so much that I think there are few other tools in my life that stand out so much
5/5

Any negative reviews you read about this tool are from people who do not know how to use it properly. All the way up to my own wind tunnel, I own all sorts of tools, including welders (TIG, MIG, and ARC). This is the most impressive tool of them all. When I used a Dewalt 20v Sawzall with a Diablo 3 TPI blade to trim the branches from the Mesquite trees on my property, I used a Dewalt 20v Sawzall. believe that the saw made by this company is better than that power There is an immediate sense of speed, of efficiency, and of lightness.
