GEDORE 600 E-1000 Engineers' Hammer ROTBAND-Plus 1000 g

I am very impressed with the quality of this hammer. Having a well-forged head and ergonomically designed handle, this is an amazing tool. In addition to the red neck collar, the red handle is held on by a torx head bolt, not rubber or plastic, and it is easily interchangeable when the handle needs to be changed. One thing I was disappointed with, and this is more of a preference than a genuine complaint, was that the handle is ash as opposed to If the handle says "esche," which is German for Ash, then this is true. The message will say hickory if it doesn't. It's not that ash isn't an acceptable tooling wood, and the seller description mentions that it can also be used for that, but that its hardness and elasticity aren't as good as hickory's. The hammer is otherwise top-notch, and as such, I'd have liked to see Hickory fill the seat instead of Ash for #2. It's just a small personal complaint, but I'm just giving my two My verdict is that I would buy this again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone who is trying to find the best A blacksmith's hammer of the highest quality.

My initial response to receiving the hammer was that I was excited, but I found out that it was either used or that it was not taken care of. The unused part of mine will be used anyway, but it's a shame I didn't purchase a new one. **Edit as follows As for the new one, it wasn't as bad as the last one, but still had some indents and chips, a hammer is a hammer so I'm okay with it, but for the price I would have expected it to be a fresh one.
