Overall, the cutter jaws are well machined, but the adjustment nut is poorly designed. To adjust, tighten and loosen the thin-faced jam nut with an ultra-thin open end wrench. It's simple to round a corner, but it's difficult to stay within the factory-specified push force range. The factory, too, was unable to make the necessary adjustments. The grips are also functional, but they are outdated and could be improved with better gripping and more comfortable materials. I haven't come across anything better in this price range. Replacement parts are readily available, but cutting jaws, in particular, are expensive, so you might as well buy a brand new tool if you can find one at a discount.
A good cut in 3/16" wire rope is something I can vouch for.
In addition, once I'm finished, I intend to keep it onboard in case of a dismasting, when I'll need to cut the damaged rig loose from the boat or repair a shroud if necessary. My rigging is 1 x 19 stainless steel, and this cutter will easily cut through it. The handles are shorter than most cable cutters I've seen, so they'll fit in my boat much better. I'd tell my friends about these.
Wire cutter of high quality.
It cuts cleanly without fraying the cable and works like a charm.
Thanks.
