The situation varies. As the c7 has wider jaws, if you only have to cut I'd bet $10 you'd have saved by buying the C3 instead, if you'd known that you'd have to use 11811"). It's true that the C7 can do a job on a cable up to 7mm in diameter, but there are times when larger sizes of cable need to be cut. I was pretty sure that the C3 would have taken care of most of my needs, except I received a faulty A 7x19 aircraft cable that had a diameter of 0.9575" (calipers showed 0.945) was actually almost 1/8" in diameter. The number 119! It is also compatible with c7) that my C7 handled without any issues. In addition to that, I sometimes make homemade dog ties My 1/8" - 3/16" out cable was in need of repair or reshortening. I decided to pick up the C7 in the end. You have either an awesome cable cutter, or you have a fantastic cable cutter, and the difference in hardness won't show up for many many years if you use it infrequently like I do.
These are some of my most favorite wire cutters, but they can only cut small wire rope. Barb wire can be cut well with these, but they have a very Concertinas don't seem to fit in with our group.
You are right. This is more suited to cutting twisted-strand cable (like brake/shift cables on a bicycle/motorcycle or "aircraft cable"), so if that is all you need to cut, it will be a bit overkill. With only half the cost, any pair of wire cutters do the job just as well.

When I was choosing my first set of cable cutters, I tried to think only once and cry once. It is recommended much more than any other brand. They aren't cheap, but they are very well constructed and have long life. The same goes with anything you abuse they will not last as long if you do. They will last a very long time if you use them for what they are designed for and take good care of them.
It was a breeze to thread the ends through the crimp sleeves because the cuts were very clean with no fraying at all. In order to install a one-metre cable, I cut a thicker cable wrapped in duct tape with a utility knife My main reason for buying this blade was to ensure it would remain sharp for another year of problem-free cutting to take care of the hops that are going up on the side of my garage. I would not have had the time or patience to do that on a couple dozen cuts for this project.
This is an excellent It has been my go-to cable cutter for cutting 1/16", 2mm and 3/32" aircraft cables for years. Cutting edges on the crossover cut right through aircraft cable and give a clean cut with flat ends that can easily be threaded through ferrules They're used dozens of times each day, and some of them are still going strong after years of use. In my business, I bought a new set for a new crew member. The material is tough as nails and easy to work with. It was well worth the price.
In spite of its price, the device does its job and is likely to last for A small diameter cable is cut cleanly with this cutter.

They work ok for me since I don't need to use them all the time, I have used other brands that work better regularly.
It is soft and buttery. My Pedro's cutters are now replaced by these. In spite of the cost, the benefit is a super clean cut. With the price of some cables today, it's particularly worthwhile. I expect it to last for quite some.
This cutter does exactly what it is supposed to do. I have tried other cutters, but this is the only one that cuts cable smoothly. I had one sold in the big box stores that cut like this one did, good clean cut.
