if you don't mind a strong chemical odor coming from your tools' handles This chisel seemed to be well constructed. Its awful, strong chemical odor disqualified it from being used by me. I never used this tool, just to be clear. The actual chisel's metal may be of superior quality. Because of the plastic (tar? ), I found it to be faulty. When you open the Amazon box, the (used to make its handle) is immediately apparent. Defective because in the past, I've kept tools with the same persistent odor (all of them made in China), but I had to throw away every single one of them after a week or two. This odor will not go away; it will penetrate your skin and will require several hand washings to remove. This is something I can say because I have a chemistry background. (Is it tar or plastic?) ) used to make the handle didn't have the right chemical reactants in the right proportions. Plasticizers are in the proper chemical ratio for a complete reaction, so well-made plastics have no odor. As a result, the final product is chemically balanced and, as a result, odorless.

When I first tried to use it, the smell rubbed off on my hands, and I had to wash them several times to remove it. I've only used it once, so I have no idea how sturdy or long-lasting it is. I'm unable to get past the foul odor of toxic chemicals.

In general, these chisels aren't bad. br>br>However, they didn't hold up very well to a few days of amateur hard rock mining. After a few hours of use in an agate/jasper mine, the smaller point broke and the larger one was pretty much round. Having said that, those outcomes were somewhat expected. Those rocks are far more difficult to break than concrete or mortar, which is what these chisels were designed for. I also used them while digging obsidian, and they showed no signs of wear, which is to be expected given the softer nature of the material.

I'm making a firepit out of natural stone cladding, and I'm breaking and shaping the rocks with it. I bought this along with two other chisels, and this is by far the best; it works extremely well, and I believe this is largely due to the hand guard; you don't realize how your hammer blow will be subconsciously reduced due to your hand's proximity to the hammer. Because the hand guard reduces the risk of hitting your hand, the blows are much more powerful. This purchase has made me extremely happy!.

This is a fantastic tool in general. br>br>The hand guard on the majority of the other hand chisels I looked at got bad reviews. This hand guard performs admirably and is extremely comfortable to wear. If you miss it and hit the hand guard, it will move down a little, but it will quickly return and perform admirably. br>br>I've been using it for quite some time and it works flawlessly. It's a fantastic tool, and it's a fantastic seller. br>br>PS: if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words " The one I got had a chemical odor to it. It wasn't terrible for me, but everyone's experience is different, so yours may differ. BUT, after I said yes, the seller approached me and asked if it smelled. I received a full refund without having to ask. Based on the other reviews that say nothing about the smell, I believe it happened after the seller shipped the product, so it's most likely just a temporary issue.

Because my previous chisel did not come with a hand guard, and I only use a chisel once in a while, I had not considered a hand guard, this was a good purchase even if only for the guard. A chisel can also be used.

This is a nice, reasonably priced, and powerful chisel. It worked perfectly to remove ceramic tile from a countertop and backsplash. Because my eyes were on the chisel end rather than where the hammer landed, I appreciated the hand protector.
