The angle of attack is important when using this scraper on thinset. If the thinset patch is crumbly or flaky, you can approach it from a shallow angle to cover more ground; however, if the thinset is tightly adhered, you'll need to attack it from a higher angle and make multiple passes in perpendicular directions, all while spraying the area with water to keep the dust down. Keep in mind that if you make the floor too vertical, it will begin to chip into the solid concrete without missing a beat.
In order to remove both mastic and thinset in a bedroom/master bath, this item was purchased. When it came to removing the glue that was used to hold down some flooring, this tool saved me a lot of time and money. Prior to purchasing, I tried using some glue remover made specifically for floors from a big box store, which didn't work out so well and was easily going to cost me several hundred dollars in time to wait then scrap. Thanks to this tool, I was able to complete the entire room in a matter of hours. Later, when I was removing tile in the master bath with the bulldog, I was able to smooth out the floor once more after removing the tile. If I had one complaint, it was that after using the blade for a while, it got hot and the bolts/locknuts that held the blade in place vibrated loose. br>br>If I had another complaint, it was that after using the blade for a while, it got hot and the bolts/locknuts that held the blade in place vibrated loose. This happened to me a couple of times, but I was able to quickly tighten them and resume work. br>br>Highly recommended for any demo/remodel work that you may be doing.
This worked great for removing tile and thinset from my concrete subfloor, but it broke after only one room. Given the product's price, I was disappointed; a replacement blade would have been nice. Instead, I'll have to pay an additional $26 on top of the $100 I already paid for a new one, even though I only used it for 5 hours.
I don't think a 1" difference in price is worth it.
This floor scraper saved us a lot of time when it came to removing the old tile mortar from our floor. This is a tool that I would strongly recommend.
The glue from the subfloor is easily removed. If you go too vertical, the concrete will be dissolved. A new weapon in the toolbox.
This application was extremely beneficial to me. It was necessary to remove the glue that had been left on the hardwood floor, as well as some areas where tiles needed to be replaced.
This wide blade cut through tile in my bathroom much faster than a regular chisel bit.
