I was taken aback. I never expected a hatchet to be so useful. Technology can be useful at times. This thing has the ability to move large blocks of wood with ease. The blade isn't particularly sharp, so I'll be sharpening it soon, but it's functional right out of the box. I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs in sharp mode.

I'm biased because I adore all Fiskars products, but this little powerhouse has everything. All-in-one mini axe and sledgehammer that features patented IsoCore. It's a pity I have to get my hands dirty with it.

If there is such a thing as a hatchet maul, this is it. Because of the smaller handle size, it does exactly what it's supposed to do with the least amount of effort. Smashes and splits.

I'd just like to point out that this isn't a hatchet job. This thing isn't going to cut down any trees. It's the best kindling hatchet you'll ever find. It's a good idea to keep it near the log pile in case it needs to be split. Dry wood splits extremely quickly thanks to the maul shape. With this one, you'll want to keep an eye on your fingers. It carries a lot of weight and has a higher proclivity for splitting wood than you might think.

I bought it for tree felling and wedge work because it appears to be well made and durable. I’am a strong enough guy , but’d like it a pound ( 30%) lighter than’d it a pound ( 30%) lighter than’d it a pound ( 30%) light At this weight, it feels more like a sledge or maul, and I'd prefer a little more finesse for a strike like this.
