I couldn't have known that based on the photos. On Amazon, there is an advertisement. I should have known not to buy this if the advertisement had included a closeup view of a denoted measurement next to the blade. Now I understand why the seller didn't include such a feature in the advertisement. br>br>The weight is a plus, as you only need a 5 pound head. I'd invested in a pair of twos. 5 pound of a different brand with a standard wider head blade, but 2. 5 lb felt too light to break through any hard ground or soil.
I'm a huge fan of this product because I have terrible, unkempt clay soil that has been a problem for me for decades. It is the source of my misery! This selection has proven to be a huge help in my landscaping projects! This is something I wish I had three years ago. It isn't light, but that isn't something I would want. The weight aids in moving the dirt with a dexterity I never imagined possible. A vexing elm tree was dug up! It is, without a doubt, my favorite purchase of the year! (Of which I have MANY) The only thing I'd change is the handle length.
8oz. When you're 80 years old and no longer as strong as you once were, those extra pounds matter. This is a pick that I'm not sure I'll be able to handle. I'm looking for something that isn't as heavy as the others.
I was concerned that it would be too heavy for a senior woman, but it was just right; it wasn't too light, either, and it was well made. It was a lot easier for me to break up hard packed soil that a shovel couldn't break up, and soaking the ground didn't help at all. So I bought this pickaxe, and it sliced right through the ground. This is something I'm glad I purchased.
I bought it to help me break up hard, dry soil for my garden. With this mattock, what took a long time with a shovel was done quickly and efficiently. br>br>It's a well-made product. The head is sturdy and well-balanced, and the handle is easy to hold.
There's even a guarantee on the product. As expected, this is a fantastic choice. For a 5 pound head, the weight is about right. Does well in both hard clay and rocky soil. I live in the Tennessee mountains, just north of Georgia, so I have to deal with both types of land.
This is an excellent choice for tougher jobs, such as breaking up hard, compacted soil. My issue with it is that it is too heavy for me, but I am not the strongest person in the world. It could be ideal for someone who is physically strong. I did notice, however, that after a few swings, I needed to take a breather and rest my arms for a minute. However, to say break up compacted dirt, it must be heavy.
This is a very sturdy piece of equipment. I haven't given it a full day of torture yet, but if it doesn't live up to my expectations, I'll update this review. My team and I have a reputation for being picky. Everything we've bought lately seems to bend out of shape, leaving us with only our old solid forged picks. br>This has a head that reminds me of old tools. We'll have to wait and see if that's the case. br>br>Note: If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words "creative The blade is quite small, measuring about 2 1/2 inches in width. I put it to the test on some sandstone and mud, and it easily cut through both. It took me aback. I like how light it is, and I plan to use it for a long time. br>br>If you haven't heard anything about this in a month or so, consider it a plus.
