I'm not a gardener in the traditional sense of the word. This was purchased to do fine excavation work in order to expose buried PVC pipe. For my needs, the tool is ideal. The only problem I had was a loose pick head. The two rivets that secure the head to the handle didn't cause any problems. I easily fixed it by drilling two 3/16" holes in the corners and then driving in some tapered dowels, as it appeared to be more of a case of wood shrinkage or the handle being a little too small from the start. If the head hadn't been loose, I would have given it five stars. However, I have given it four stars because I had to fix something that should have been caught by quality control.
We have a lot of clay soil, and this helps to break it up so that we can plant.
