Questions & Answers

Specifically, what are the purposes of the hook end?

You can cut a small branch by pulling it, you can grab a branch if you pull it down, you can clear out cut limbs by using it as a rake that you can use to cut roots, and you can hook under a root to cut it. You can do so much once you have one in your hand. for instance, I live in florida and won't buy a machete without having a hook attached to the spine. I almost use the hook more than the blade when cutting.

Are the edges of the blades sharp enough or will I have to sharpen them?

In this case, the blade will already be sharp Totally ready to use out of the box, sharp and ready to use.

What is the proper way to insert it into ?

A very easy process is involved. As you can see, I do not own the one pictured. You can use a standard machete to cut mine. Currently resident of Pinehurst, North Carolina - Ferrell Conder

I was wondering what kind of heat treatment was used in the manufacturing of this product what hardness degrees are these products?

In the case of the Machete, the HRC ranges from 51-59 This heat treatment method allows us to achieve the quality we expect from a Hooyman tool, having a hardness of 53.

A cactus has grown over my fence, so I got this knife to cut it down
5/5

If a piece of cactus breaks off, it makes a real mess. In my experience, the machete performs perfectly. It is lightweight enough for me to handle easily (I am a 70-year old female) but In fact, I cut off most of what was hanging over my fence today, as soon as I got my knife. Most of them came off with one swipe. The hook works in the right places. This purchase has been an excellent purchase for me. What I need it to do is exactly what it does.

Bringing home the hookem machete -- the Hoodyman I'm satisfied with how things are going
5/5

In addition to the comfortable grip, the nylon sheath is strong and does a good job of protecting the blade. The blade is thin and sharp, with good balance and weight at the tip. It seems the size is just about right, not too large or too small. On some of them, I tested it. There was a mature tree in my yard that was surrounded by 5" dwarf saplings. The knife made light work of chopping through all the layers with only a few strokes. This hook is used for cutting vines by pulling them. The price is reasonable for the quality and it's worth the Having bought it, I am glad I did. * * Mind you, I do not have any real experience with these things as I am just your average Joe. This seems useful for clearing brush in the woods though, since it is light and thin yet strong and hardy enough to withstand anything the forest can throw at it. Shape and design have similarities to that of the legendary Woodsman's Pal, and for many reasons I would rather have bought that model The quality difference between products made in the USA and China is obvious, the designs are original, etc. , but the price differential is difficult to justify. It's not yet clear if Hooeyman will work for me in the long run, but I will continue to use it until I have more experience with it. It's been a five star experience so far It is important to think about what you get for your.

Brush is trimmed less efficiently with a harsh tone than with a gentle one
3/5

The unique feature of this versatile and innovative tool is that it performs just as well with a machete blade as it does if I flip it around and hit the brush from the back.

I find this tool to be very useful
5/5

can cut through vines easily, and it is lightweight. I have been able to cut down piles of vines with it. I found both the hack blade and the pull blade to be sharp and to work The pros are The lightweight, well balanced design, and effective performance have the following drawbacks It would have been nice if the tool had been 2 inches longer. Nevertheless, I recommend this tool easily.

Dull, dull, dull
3/5

Probably not as interesting as it could be, but it would need to work on Has a tendency to fill out very quickly and is not very durable. If you're looking for a sharp machete, then it's not for you. It was made in America that I wanted, so I don't regret it. There is just one thing left for me to do, and that is to put more.

I love the practicality of it
5/5

I got to use the product as soon as it was delivered. Machete and tool contain a scabbard that attaches to a belt, which I have found extremely useful. I have cut down a bunch of trees with it. Those with big trees (6-10 The diameter of the wheel is 8 inches. The diameter of the pipe is 3 inches. With trees, I used the same cutting / slashing technique that is employed on a bolo machete and knew I could easily remove them.

Thickets can be cut down with ease using this tool
4/5

If your goal is to get rid of brushy, viney vegetation, then this is a great tool for you. In my experience, this is the most efficient way to trim brush when I have a variety of power tools. The size and weight of the device give it an advantage- The difference between a trimmer and a hacksaw is that you can get in there and hack at it. Trying to stand up with a gas trimmer or pole saw around my waist level gives me back pain. With the blade, you get a sharp edge, the hook is useful, and the grip feels good in the hand. It will be used to cut down a bunch of brush in my back yard, then I will use a pole saw or trimmer with a cutting blade to mop it up It is time to pick up. I am very happy with my.
