This blade is intended for use in the woods to cut through underbrush. There is no good reason for its design in this context. It is not a good idea to chop with the backward angled blade. There is a loss of energy when striking some brush when the blade does not hit perpendicular to that brush, and the action thus becomes more like slicing. A few very thin brushes had to be struck many times before I could cut through them. As well as this, I found myself trying to force a stronger, perpendicular chopping motion by overextending my wrist. The use of this led to my hand cramping up and becoming painful within minutes. A blade such as this would not be recommended. It would be better to use a straight blade or a blade with a forward angled edge.
The blade on this knife has been hacked more than 100 times, and there is no evidence The variety of wood I've chopped includes pine, maple, oak, and even a bit of elm. A side-by-side comparison is what motivated me to purchase this As a result, it will be used pretty much every time we wander in This is a nice and heavy duty sheath, and the handle is comfortable and feels solid. With this plan, I don't think you can make a mistake. Generally, negative reviews are either the result of people (probably) doing dumb things or receiving I have a great one! I would definitely recommend this product.
In no way have I purchased this for its appearance instead, it helped me clear land. My brush cutter is sturdy, and it did exactly what I needed to clear trees and brush. You should be able to use it for a long time if you clean it after every use.
The first one I bought had defects, so I had to return it. Another one has been received. I used it for five minutes and it already had massive chips in the blade. The blade could not be repaired and as a professional woodworker, we have a top of the line water cooled slow speed machine, that works like a bench grinder, but used for sharpening tools used for turning on a wood lathe and hand carving. After an hour, we were unable to remove chips from Gerber's very soft steel which is poor in quality. The leather wheel or strop on one end of the machine is also the only thing that keeps sharpenings. Sharpening is something we know how to do, and we have been using a Tormek machine for There's a simple fact Gerber's intent is to cut you off financially, not to maintain the soft wood 1/4 inch saplings we were trying to preserve. If you decide to use this on any Bushcraft trips, keep it out of reach as cutting through actual vines can be very dangerous to one's life. The look and feel of this was wonderful, and I really wanted to fall in love with it. In place of it, a Condor was used. It may cost twice as much, but it is extremely durable and has already proven to last. A purchase of the Village 12 inch model was made. I am not working for Condor, and this is a completely unpaid ***** When using the Gerber in the real world, do not purchase it. The machete has its proper place, and we know how to use it. There is no way that Gerber can be called a machete, it is so poor. The thought of writing this review after years of experience with other great Gerber products is painful. The Gerber product was once equivalent to a Cadillac, but sadly these days there is no such thing. No, it's not even like a homemade skateboard, if you enjoy analogies like these. In this case we might have received two bad Gerber products in a row, but after an hour using the Tormek, we sent the second one back as well. The UPS driver gave us a receipt for the pickup of our return, but our refund is still pending. If you return to this company, remember to save your receipt.
It is not an axe, so it takes longer than an axe to chop through 12" logs. I really liked how sharp the blade was and that it was stainless steel so it will be great to use on the boat and for coconuts. I like the handle stop, and the sheath is a plus. It is not too heavy but light enough for good control.
It's awesome that this machete exists. of the shirt is fantastic, and the length is perfect as well. There is a little hook on the end that works great for grabbing objects too high up. This is a great deal for the money and an awesome product. Getting the item out of the packaging was my only issue. During my time with heavy-lifting I spent at least 10 minutes - In spite of the poor packaging, it is still a great product. I struggled with the machete and actually fell on the floor, but nobody was hurt. As a result, the packaging was really horrendous. In all honesty, I can't remember the last product I bought that was that difficult Anyhow, go ahead and.
Now that I've owned this item for about 3 months, I'm still enjoying it. Our property was invaded by snakes several times and we used it to kill them. The overall sharpness of the blades is good I cut myself by accident and had to go to the doctor because I thought I had I'm very impressed with the ease of use and how well it handles slashing. It takes roughly three snakes to cut through hard bones, and it takes roughly one hour to use the blade on cartilage. To get a new blade, you need to pay $5 in meter. The brush is perfect for camping and brushing You should only use it if you want to kill livestock, such as chickens and roosters, on a long-term basis. The product is an excellent buy, and I did order it again. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact.
It would have been nice if there had been As a machete, it is not as sharp as a cheaper machete I already owned. It was a good thing that the retaining lanyard was there since I had to swing really hard to cut vines and almost lost control at times, because I don't know where the blade would have ended up if I wasn't wearing it. My leg or foot is most likely to be affected. I'm hoping it will be a lot better after I sharpen the blade, despite the fact that one shouldn't have to sharpen a blade with such restricted usage.
