Yes, as long as they are small jobs.
A Gerber product is not made in Oregon and is not manufactured there for a while. China is the country where this knife originates
According to my purchase, the version I got was free of holes. There is no science to support that the holes increase the strength of the blade. I believe they are merely for aesthetic reasons.
for storing a small machete in your back pocket. This is not an adequate tool to handle large-scale work on a daily basis. A blade that is only 10 inches long is really useful.

This is one of the best prices we have seen! The two items I bought are in good condition. is neither good nor bad, but it's not outstanding. It's very light weight and great to throw in a bag for I had a good edge on mine. Having not purchased anything from Gerber for years, they have really changed their business model in the last few years and have released some great products.
My purchase of this was not regretful, but it is important to note that it’s for specific tasks instead of being used for its entirety. As a first step, I would not use this to baton. It is thick and its profile is correct, but it is thick and its profile is incorrect. There would be no way for the blade to survive if there was a hole in the front. It would likely be best to baton saplings rather than hardwoods if batoning. This knife will function properly as a quick machete that is light, comfortable, and easy to handle. Probably the biggest downfall is the sheath, which will need to be replaced with a leather or custom Kydex sheath in the future. In addition to being light plastic, the thumb retainer is prone to breaking or bending to the point that it will no longer hold the knife. Gerber's Grass & Reed knife is good enough for light use on reeds and grass, but not one of the best knives. Maybe good for carry during a light, hiking backpacking trip or as an addition to a fishing pack. The product is recommended for use in small spaces and for light duty purposes you need something that is significantly stronger and heavier, see the following Rowen or TOPS are the places to go if you have a duty. In my observation, three stars are sufficient for my use and general observations.
Although probably not the best steel, this tool is still very practical and useful. My experience with it has been excellent since I purchased it, and it has done everything I have asked it to do. I read some reviews that said it is difficult to sharpen, but I disagree with that statement. It has great weight distribution, which means that it is just as good or better than things twice as big. Since its unique blade shape makes it different to sharpen, but it's really not that complicated. You will need to practice polishing it since it doesn't hold an edge really well, but once you get it finely tuned, you can chop, baton, and featherstick with it.
If you have ever camped then you know what I mean. If you are looking for a machete then buy one, because this knife cannot replace that roll for you.
I've been eyeing this machete for a while and finally bought it, best decision ever. I got it shipped and then took it camping the next day. Out of the box, it's just as sharp as a Gerber pocket knife. The blade steel helps it stay sharp, so it beats a cheap machete in that regard.
The swing is good with a good weight balance.
The gift was given to a marine as a Christmas gift. His favorite thing about the blade is its aesthetics and its It is on his bag every day and I am not sure how frequently he uses it. It is recommended for anyone who is into knives or who is just starting to discover more of their sharp side. No dolls allowed (no toys).
I really liked how sharp it was right out of the box. Then this is what you need if you want something to stab, chop, and slice.
