Although I purchased the item in early 2016, due to an injury to my shoulder I was unable to use it until April 2017. It took me a few minutes to assemble it, but I immediately noticed it was too light for the task. One hand was required to pop out the plug used for the slide hammer weight from the end of the handle. However, while the end of the slide tube appeared to be well welded, the plug had barely been melted into it and only 1/2 inch of the slide tube had been welded in place. This device is easy to weld by a beginner, rather than by the machine that welds. Aside from the poor construction and light weight, this blade has a "hardened" blade that is way too brittle. The blade was only the part that fell on a concrete surface when I was assembling it, If you know how to wield a Pulaski, you will have a better and more efficient tool for the job.
*cough*Cleanly and easily cuts through roots up-down The thickness should not exceed 2 inches. It takes longer and more effort to pull up bigger roots, but if you have them you will succeed. I find this to be a difficult program to use, but it.
Roots are sliced in half by this device. There were many roots in a fence project, some of them 2" in We got the job done. You can use it with or without the slide hammer In both cases, both work well.
My hammer sleeve broke as I was on my 7th pound of a dead, 4" diameter stump, that had been dead for four years. The force used on me was not excessive since I am 58 years old. Although the concept seems good, the weld seems flimsy, and I don't see how it would hold up in the long-run.
DUE TO HEAVY DUTIES.
My yard was cleaned up by it efficiently, and I was able to save both time and effort. Even though my body seemed to stand up to the abuse with no problem, I did not feel any different. This product would be a good choice to buy.
No matter how sharpened you try to make it, it will bounce off the roots. Although this product may be good for cutting grass, it does not deliver on what it claims. I am likely to use it to pry open a bottle opener or anchor a boat. It is not a product I would recommend.
