Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use unthinned Benjamin Moore Advance Paint (waterborne alkyd paint)? If so, how big should the tip be?

The key is to use the highest spray tip possible. My Graco X7 Magnum Pro has a maximum tip size of. This can be found in the last two digits of the tip's phone number. So, if a tip is marked 517, it means the spray tip orifice is. Half the width of the spray fan pattern is represented by the number "5". As a result, the 517 tip would spray a 10 inch wide (5 x 2) pattern with a paint that required an. The orifice is 017, and the paint is very thick. The size of the orifice is specified in the paint specifications. br>br>This unit comes with a 515 tip, and while I couldn't find the maximum tip size, I believe this to be it — 015 — which has a large orifice and can handle almost any latex or oil-based paint, though I wouldn't use oil-based paint in a sprayer due to clean-up. It's a lot easier to clean up with water than with mineral spirits. br>br>At the moment, I'm painting my deck with Sherwin-Williams paint. I'm using a and a Williams Super Deck product, which is thicker than regular paint. Spray tip number 015 To limit overspray and save paint, I'm painting the railings with a 315. I'll get a 6" spray pattern from the 315, and I'll get a 6" spray pattern from the. I could have used a, but 015 was within the manufacturer's specifications. 017, but it would have sprayed a lot more paint and made controlling overspray and conserving paint a little more difficult. br>br>I hope this information is useful. This is a fantastic sprayer at an excellent price, but make sure you follow the instructions and clean it properly before storing it.

How much overspray does this produce if used outside? I live on a busy street, and I don't want to end up with overspray on the cars parked nearby. ?

I've worked as a painter for over 20 years and have used a variety of sprayers. Any paint atomized to spray will float 200 feet and stick to a car in a light breeze. Buy . Cover any cars within 200 feet of any breeze with 01 mil plastic; if the wind is blowing toward your back yard, paint quickly before it changes direction. My experience as a painter for 45 years has allowed me to use many Greco high dollar pumps. I have purchased such a very expensive, powerful unit to be a toy for the modern world to learn what is happening now.

I've had some bad experiences with airless paint sprayers, so this is an excellent tool for the money that produces professional results quickly
4/5

I've tried three other products in the past. One had a tank that was so heavy that it made your arm tired after a few minutes, another had a tank that was so small that you could only spray for 5 minutes between fills, and all three had mediocre to poor paint results. When I saw the plethora of instructions that came with this tool, my heart sank, but it turns out that they are written to describe everything you need to know about setting it up, breaking it down, cleaning it, and storing it for the long haul. It is, in fact, simple to assemble, use, and dismantle. I experimented with a variety of paints and found that deck stain on a fence, exterior cement paint on a concrete wall, and latex emulsion on indoor wood paneling all produced excellent results. br>Here are a few of the highlights.
1. It works with paint straight from the 5 gallon or 1 gallon can/drum, so there's no need to fill up or empty anything.
2. Because it has a long delivery hose, you won't have to move the tool or paint container as often.
3. The nozzle can be set horizontally or vertically, allowing you to paint up and down or side to side, depending on your needs.
4. The nozzle barrel arrangement is one of the best features. The spray nozzle is mounted on the top of a vertical circular barrel with an arrow handle. If you ever get a blockage, simply reverse the arrow, point somewhere unimportant, and pull the trigger once, and the paint will be forced the wrong way through the nozzle, clearing the blockage. As a result, there are very few stoppages and the clearance is very quick. I should point out that the pump's inlet hose already has a strainer, and the gun has a micro-filter. pre-filter nozzle, but it's still a great feature that sets this tool apart from the rest.
5. It's simple to prime, and the pump only runs when it's needed, which reduces noise and wear and tear on the pump.
6. Cleaning is a breeze because the entire thing disassembles easily.
7. With paint, you can get a lot of bang for your buck. It's the only tool I've found that provides good coverage and achieves the square footage on the paint labels with minimal overspray and dust. br>8. It's quick. With a 10-minute time limit, you'll be done in no time. The only reason I docked one star is the amount of paint required for setup and tear down. br>br>Because it is airless, it is unaffected by slight wind outside. br>br>The only reason I docked one star is the amount of paint required for setup and tear down. br>br> With 20 feet of hose, a large gun, and all of the suction tube and pump, you're probably wasting half a pint of water every time you use it. When you have 1,600 feet of 6ft high fencing to paint on both sides, this isn't a big deal, but anything smaller than a large room requires consideration. You can pour the paint back into the can from the pipes, but it will take a long time to clean up. That being said, I thought this tool was fantastic; it was quick, simple to use, and did a good job. I'm very pleased with it and would recommend it to others for medium to large painting projects both indoors and outdoors.

I was let down
3/5

I'm extremely dissatisfied with myself. I ordered the Graco Magnum 257025 Project Painter Plus Paint Sprayer and waited two weeks for the wind to die down and the temperature to be just right so that I could start my painting project. Setting up the machine is simple, and the step-by-step instructions are very clear. I primed the sprayer, used two separate buckets, and everything appeared to be in working order; I did a test spray on a piece of wood to determine the proper pressure for the flow, and I was ready to get started. When I started spraying primer on my stucco, the machine began to make noises, and the pressure in the hose abruptly stopped. When I returned to the machine, there was a pool of paint on the ground and under it, indicating that the spray hose was faulty and did not maintain a proper seal when connected. Paint continued to splatter, obliterating the painters' plastic I had laid down. I believe I would have gone insane if I had been working on this project inside. br>br>I've already processed the refund and will ship the machine back to you tomorrow via UPS. It failed miserably as a product with a great appearance and ease of use. I'd charge the company for the paint I misplaced if I could. Because many of the negative reviews mention the same gasket/connection issue, I do not recommend this product. Even if you're just trying to save a few bucks, look for an alternative.
