The Bob's weight and top swivels allow it to stabilize much more quickly than a traditional plumb bob. I've been a carpenter for over 30 years, and I use this method to install all of my door frames.
My micrometer reads 307 inches, but the plastic rings are wider than the metal base; they could, however, be permanently removed.

This plumb bob is quite nice. The fast-paced environment The stabilizing feature is effective and contributes to a more enjoyable plumbing experience. It's a nice mass, and it's easy to work with. This is much more appealing to me than the standard brass versions.
This stabilizes quickly and is well constructed; I am extremely pleased with it. When it first arrived, we all spent a lot of time tinkering with it, trying to figure out how to make it not stabilize. It was also a lot of fun. However, it always worked, and I was blown away.
I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but it's a replacement for my broken 14 oz, which worked great, and this one hooks up just as well, with the magnet holding it in place. In the future, I intend to purchase another 14 oz. and an 8 oz. It's just that I wish it had been produced in the United States.
I decided to purchase this plumb bob and gammon reel after doing some research and reading reviews. The rubber sides and the tip cap are two of my favorite features. As a surveyor working alongside 70 mph texters on major highways, the fast stabilization comes in handy for quick use. For a gammon reel, this is the ideal weight.
21oz. WOW, I mean WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW I suppose I should've expected it to be large, given its weight of 21 oz / 600g. It stands at a height of more than six inches. However, I must confess that I was taken aback. Two scenarios necessitate the use of this tool. 1) You're installing plumbing across a long distance, such as between floors in a building. 2) In the open air, exposed to the elements. It was a windy day when I was plumbing holes for conduit work, so I was glad I had this monster in my bag! It didn't budge even with gusts of 25 mph! NICE! What can you say about a weight on a string that isn't already said? I will say that the rubber rings on the sides are useful if you're working near painted surfaces, especially given the weight of the tool.
I don't have to wait long because it quickly stabilizes.
Excellent quality at a great price.
