Although this tool has a good concept, it could be improved. Because the increments between each move are so small, balancing the level can be difficult. It's also simple to switch from level to unlevel by simply taking your hand off the tool. The putty helps a little, but then you have to try to flatten it against a wall properly, which can lead to unevenness when using the tool. The ability to lock the desired position would be a significant improvement to this tool. This tool almost necessitates the use of two people. One person is responsible for holding the line while the other makes the necessary markings.
I bought it to use during the renovation because I needed something small and easy to use. The product was of good quality and performed exactly as it should.

It's a strange little device in that it has an internal level, and the display shows the difference between the laser line it projects and the current level. You must always be aware of the difference between the thing being a level and the laser line projecting at a level, which is one of the things that makes this thing a little strange. It's surprisingly small - I have two other laser levels that are about the size of a tape measure, and I thought that was small until I opened this one! It's just under 2" x 2" in size. 5" and a smidgeon under a pound. 25" deep. There are a couple of cool features in this level that I'd like to point out. The level, for starters, has a magnetic bottom that allows it to be placed on magnetic surfaces. Second, it has a few modes that can be activated by holding down the power button for a longer or shorter period of time, such as having the backlit LCD screen on and displaying the angle even when the red laser beam is turned off. Overall, I like this laser level a lot. And the fact that I can slip it into my pocket or purse and carry it around with me is a huge plus. I never know when I'll need to make a level check!.
The inclusion of a tripod socket would have been a useful addition to this device. This tool comes in handy when you need to level one or more items, especially over long distances. It could also be used to level a recreational vehicle (RV) at a campsite, though doing so on its 1/10-degree scale would be more difficult than useful. br>br>In order to ensure level framing, this tool can be used in place of a large carpenters spirit level. Use it to align electric eyes across gate and garage door openings is another example. Aligning pictures across a wall and even leveling them with each other on other walls in the room are examples of practical home uses. It emits a highly visible beam and is powered by just two AAA batteries (included).
