Hi P. Brown,br>Wonderful inquiry! Yes, the stainless steel blade is flat, and it is designed to lay flat against a piece of wood. Once you secure it in place with the locking screw, it will maintain its precise angle. The blade is securely stored in the handle, which also serves as a leveler, thanks to the included spirit bubble. br>I hope this information is useful! This program has been a lot of fun for me. It's simple, has a nice length, and is simple to use. This tool was ideal for measuring the various angles of the drywall as my vaulted ceiling tapered downward as I built an accent wall out of old fence wood.
Getting an accurate angle and/or locking in the angle can be difficult with most devices. Both are done by this individual. Lock it in place by lining it up correctly. After years of relying on protractor-type measuring tools, I was blown away by the accuracy of the angle.
This isn't something that can be used. Even if the screw is difficult to loosen, you can tighten it as much as you want and it will still not hold the angle, allowing light pressure to knock it out of alignment.
Bevel isn't flashy, and it doesn't have a fancy wooden handle to go with it. However, it is not intended to be a decorative center piece; rather, it is a tool that will be used. As a result, it's a huge hit. The knob is large and easy to grip, and it securely holds the angle. The level is in good working order. Because the handle is made of hard plastic, it can withstand being knocked around. I don't think you can find a better bevel for less than $10. I'd put it up against any of the $30 or $40 designs in terms of functionality.
I like how the built-in bubble/level makes it easier to document angles rising from a "level plane. " Definitely preferable to juggling a torpedo level!.
The handle is made of plastic, but it is very strong. It gets the job done.
It has a sturdy construction and a strong locking dial. I've wanted one of these for a long time but have been putting it off. It was too good of a deal to pass up. There's no reason to pay more for a well-known brand. The built-in level has proven to be extremely advantageous.
