Questions & Answers

What's the difference between the c11h model and the 11h model on its own?

The blade on the "C" is satin chrome, while the blade on the "11h" is steel.

Has anyone else had trouble reattaching the square to the ruler?

I concur with the previous answers. You must line up the pieces in any combination square, but this is not a difficult task.

Is this a product from the United States of America? I just received the "shiny" black starrett from Amazon, and it is not what it appears to be. Is it true that this was made in the United States of America?

Starrett sells tools that are made in the United States. In Brazil, they do have a plant. It was founded in Athol, Massachusetts, and the main factory is located there. Minnesota is also included. , California, and two other states in the United States

Is there a satin chrome finish or a reflective finish on the rule?

The rule isn't satin chrome, and it's also not particularly reflective.

Selected User Reviews For Starrett Combination Square, 11H-12-4R - Pre Cutting, Drilling Measuring Tool for Right Angles, Center with Cast Iron Square Head, 12” for Woodworking, Carpentry, Machinists

The Starrett name has always been associated with precision and accuracy, so it's nice, but not THAT nice
3/5

I figured that if I bought this square, I'd be able to see and feel a HUGE difference between it and the tools I could get at the big box stores. Don't get me wrong: this is a fantastic square, but at $80, it's a bit pricey. 00 I assumed there would be a significant difference. It's not. If you're looking for a high-quality tool, this is one of them. But don't be concerned if you can't afford a Starrett. In the 25, you'll have no trouble finding a good, accurate square. 00 range. Overall, this is a high-quality square that is well-made and precise. I just assumed there would be a significant difference between this and some of the less expensive squares, but there isn't.

This is a fantastic combination square
5/5

It was well worth the money. This is a fantastic combination square. When it comes to tools, I try to save money whenever possible. Gauges and measuring equipment, on the other hand, are one of those areas where the investment pays off over time; this square is spot-on, and I can rely on it for precise 45-degree and 90-degree checks and marks. I'm happy I chose the starret model. It is more expensive, but in the long run, it is worthwhile. On the square I received, the faces were perfectly flat, and all of the degree measurements checked out with several accurate protractors. It has a solid feel to it when in use, and the ruler does not move when the nut is tightened. I couldn't have asked for anything more from a combination square. br>br>In the photos I've attached, you can see the dimensions. 1/32" graduations can be found on one side. I'm a furniture maker who works for a living
5/5

I've always done it. I'm a furniture maker who works for a living. I've always relied on a low-cost try-out. combination square (combination square) I placed a bid on a Starrett try-out. from e-square bay, but I was never the highest bidder. After doing some research, I decided to purchase this one because my previous one had been dropped numerous times and was no longer square. Wow! I had no idea what I'd been missing out on all this time. This try- The money spent on square was well spent. If you're a professional builder, you're going to be disappointed with this one. I'm not sure if I'll ever need another, but if I do, it'll be a Starrett.

I'm not sure why a combination square should cost nearly $100 or more, but it's a great product
5/5

However, it appears that the case metal is thicker and more robust than the version sold in stores, and this is correct. The ruler was only wrapped in a thin plastic bag and shipped in a flimsy box with plenty of room for it to jostle around during transit. I'm surprised it didn't bend or dent on the way there. However, shipping was quick, taking only two days. Wow! Overall, I prefer this tool to the more expensive Woodpeckers version; however, it is not as attractive.

Accurate, but extremely difficult to decipher
3/5

The square is extremely accurate and functional, but the numerals are difficult to read due to the satin stainless finish on the blade. Because the markings aren't painted, they blend in with the steel quite well. I ended up returning it and spending the extra money on the chromed model, which is about $20 more but has easy-to-read painted numerals.

After some use, I had to reduce my rating
3/5

This square has been in my possession for about a year. It was something I used on a daily basis. It's a good, solid tool that's accurate. However, I work in a hot environment and am constantly sweating. It's impossible to read on the 32nds/64ths side after about a week of use and a little moisture on the blade. I make a living doing fine woodworking, so I need to use finer measurements. I need to get a new square, and I'm disappointed because it wasn't cheap, and I like how this tool feels and weighs.

You obviously have no idea that cast iron rusts in the same way that steel does
5/5

This is intended for someone who is reliant on. to the person who claims that this isn't a genuine starret square because it rusts when exposed to water. You obviously have no idea that cast iron rusts in the same way that steel does. This is for someone who does their job with the help of their tools. I just bought this square because Swanson and the other $15 squares don't do their job as well as a starret does. Because other squares are made of aluminum, they do not rust. That is why they aren't completely square. Cast iron is used to make the head of the starret. Because the blade is made of stainless steel, it will not rust. If you're looking for a true 90-degree square, look no further. The only reason for the rust is that it has not been used. In the last 18 years, I've earned my fourth starret. If you're tired of squares from Home Depot and Lowe's that aren't truly square, this is the square for you. Also, when dropped, it is less likely to break.

This is an excellent tool that is well worth your money
5/5

While it may appear to be costly, picking up this tool gives you the feeling that it is well worth the money. The scale is accurate and square, the tightening knob works well, and the rule slides through the head perfectly. I realize that all of these details seem insignificant, but I've owned far too many squares that failed to meet these basic requirements over the years. Worth it!.
