Both of the ones I bought are badly warped along the point by about 3mm. I like the concept of this product in terms of incorporating a level and combining all of this great functionality into one product, but I can't recommend it because it's square. That's not even close to being square. You only had one job! br>br>.
So, aside from the fact that it appears to be a heavy-duty metal tool but is actually a light plastic piece, it is somewhat misleading. However, if you don't mind using a plastic one, this is a great deal and I'm sure it would suffice for most jobs.
Because it's bright orange, I know I'll be able to spot it in the store. I dislike how difficult it is to read the markings. If you step on it, it will break; however, if you do, it is worth purchasing a replacement.
I really like how thick the base edge is. I frequently use a speedsquare as a crosscut saw guide, and this one is easier to hold in place and has a thickness that matches my SKILsaw's baseplate.
As a professional carpenter, I strongly recommend this square because of the leveling feature.
The first issue is that these objects develop "legs" and eventually vanish. I have a half-dozen, but only four are available, including the two I recently purchased. br>All-day-every-day toolbr>The issue is that one is insufficient for those who truly require one. br>Purchase a large number of them. To make it easier to find the important items, mask them off and paint them a bright yellow color.
Because the level is a part of the square, it can check for alignment at horizontal, vertical, or 45-degree angles, just like a regular torpedo level. br>One disadvantage I've discovered is that it's made of plastic, which makes it easily breakable.
When cutting next to or drawing a line, it slides a lot.
