This hose is laid on the ground, attached to the water line behind the fridge.
The filter is intended to be connected to the water supply line, and not to be installed within a refrigerator. In series with this water pipe is the water line going to your refrigerator.
On the basis of its 20,000 gallon capacity, I would guess that it was good for up to 5 years. Additional KDF filter media not found in most 6 month refrigerator filters (most are made of simple carbon granules) also has anti-bacterial properties, which can be used for longer periods, but a problem with your incoming water might not warrant using it for longer than A portion of one of these was cut into four pieces and used for four years. It appears that no problems exist. There weren't any visible problems (even though there could have been microscopic issues and my city water never fails to serve me well). I bought the filter for $30 in the past, which I thought was a great deal. is ridiculous to pay $130 as shown now (which I assume is a temporary price increase).

Ordering this filter was a bit of a gamble for me. In spite of this, I felt comfortable ordering after reading the reviews. The filter was received, and I hopped over to Lowe's to buy zipties, adhesive strips, and adhesive tape to attach the filter to the back of my fridge. The ice maker hose also needed to be extra short. I followed the directions and it was very easy to install. It was so nice that the 2 end pieces were included. A large amount of water was used to flush the filter. Secondly, I used the refrigerator's back to connect the cable. The ice now smells and tastes great. I'm happy to report that my ice no longer has that awful taste or smell. My life has been changed forever by this filter. You will not go wrong with this filter. I have not had to purchase ice for the past several months. I hope this information was helpful for you, so if it was, please click the helpful button. Congratulations on your new purchase. Wishing you all the luck in the world.
This filter has been on my order list for over five years now My refrigerator is equipped with a filter. most significant benefit has been the reduced need to replace the expensive internal Bosch filter three times over the same time period. Accordingly, the water they provide to my refrigerator and ice cubes is more consistent, and the filter pays for itself. As far as this filter is concerned, I have never encountered any issues and am confident it still has many years to last, since I have nowhere near 20,000 gallons to go. As I stated earlier, I had to rinse this filter thoroughly with several gallons of water in order to remove the particulates that were coming out of it. THE UPDATE IS It has been 7 years since I last replaced this filter! In order to replace the current one, I will purchase another of the same type.
It appears that I needed (and expected) a Reverse Osmosis filter, which is not what this filter is. Therefore, I ordered something I am not going to use. It would be helpful for users like me who don't have much expertise with water filters if the product details on the Amazon site were more clear. As a result, I reduced my rating from a 1 to a 3, but for me, the product is completely It might not be the right fit I was able to install the filter very easily, but it works like crap, and I've tried to contact the manufacturer about six times. have the Zero Water pitcher/filter system (see pic) that I got on Amazon that I really like! Yet we drink a lot of water, which means we're constantly filling up On the photo I have shown in my caption, and it is included with the Zero Water, there is a TDS water purity measurement device. According to ZW, water with a TDS above 50 should not be consumed. A tap that we have comes out between 70 and 80 psi. On our refrigerator, we had a filer that was 67 years old. My goal was to achieve a TDS below 50, so I bought the filter. As a result of installing it, the device displayed I can't believe that water is so bad. A total of 20 gallons or more of water were run through the refrigerator to try to remove the contamination. On the pic, you can see that it was 104 at one point, but has since dropped to Still about the same as our regular tap water and above the recommended drinking level. This 20K offer from Watts on Amazon is a waste of money! It's been nearly a week that I have left numerous messages and had no results with the company answering the phone or returning my calls. There is no way to return on Amazon now. My experience with this filter has convinced me that it can't be recommended.
Two years ago we installed this water filter and have seen great results in the quality of our drinking water. It all started this morning when the lower flange broke off, causing water to flood the room. As luck would have it, I was at home when I shut off the valve after pulling the refrigerator out. The floors are still a mess with water all over them. When examining the failure, we learned that the plastic cartridge on the inlet flange was completely broken.
It is possible to have no chlorine in your water supply at all. Customers can reach Watts customer service. The name of my name. The two filters I ordered were both in stock. Both filters had been professionally installed and introduced a foul musty smell and taste to both my instant hot and instant cold dispensers. In addition, when we contacted Watts directly, we were told that these filters only filter out chlorine (something that our municipal water system removed a few years ago) and that the warranty only covered cracked cases. He sent me back to Amazon, where I received a full refund. Watts and Amazon are happy, not Watts and Amazon. By the way. I removed the filters from the water and it tasted and smelled normal again. We no longer have to put up with musty smells or bad tastes.
A similar 20,000 gallon filter has been in place for 5 years and this was brought as a replacement. It lasted 5 years, which is incredibly long, so I only replaced it because of the length of time, not because it was wearing out. The product I received was printed simply as Watts 5 Year Water Filter, the same as the one Installing it is not too difficult. Screw the ends firmly into the end caps and you won't have any leaks. Please remember to flush the first 5 gallons or so into a bucket because the carbon dust can be quite Interestingly, I am pretty certain I have the original HD filter but at two of the stores near me I was unable to locate it. I like the fact that you can buy them through.
