Questions & Answers

Can you tell me the size of the filer? Do you know where I can find these on Amazon? My sincere thanks go out to ?

Featured here is an acrylic filter whose dimensions are 10" x 5". When you search Amazon for "GXWH40L replacement filter", you will find several options for filters. Choosing a micron size smaller than 5 will allow you to filter out sediment particles from your water more effectively. An example would be that a five-micron filter catches more than a twenty-five-micron

What are the possibilities of mounting this ?

Exactly as it is depicted, it should be hung. The product comes with a steel bracket that needs to be attached to a wall or studs. My bracket was attached to a 4 ft 2x6, which in turn was attached to the wall studs behind it. Although the filter would still function if it were turned 90 degrees, it would spill out a half gallon every time it needed to be changed, and any goo would accumulate on the bottom Add elbows to your plumbing if needed so that it can be mounted

How many cubic meters of filtered air does this filter handle?

The cartridge you use determines the amount of ink that is needed. There really isn't a big deal about the housing's flow rate, it's the cartridge that filters. Different types of cartridges can filter particles faster/slower depending on their size and shape.

Is it affecting the pressure in any way?

It has been several years now since I purchased the filter, and I can never seem to see any issues with it (even when it is just about There is a range in pressure of 45 to 65 psi on the well we are on.

Selected User Reviews For GE GXWH40L High Flow Whole Home Filtration System

You don't want to make the same mistake as Earlier this year, we purchased a house that is on well water that we are currently A part of the water system that I wanted to improve was the cooling I wanted to soften the water and have it caught in a house filter to catch sediment
3/5

The well was in good shape, and it provided fairly good water quality. We decided to purchase the GE water softener and the GXWH40L whole house filter after doing a brief search. This review is not about how well the GE softener works, but I am happy with the way it works. As I don't know a great deal about house filters, I ended up really just looking at what the big-box stores had in stock, and those were GE brands of filters or Culligan brand filters. I chose GE for its feature compatibility to match our existing softener because both products had similar features. In my heart, I decided to purchase the "high capacity" unit because, well, I don't want to slowed down things, do I? As soon as I received it, I was disappointed. I put it into service after my disappointment and reading issues since I had already invested in the product. After several months, I took it out and replaced it with another product. That's the back story. Here's my rambling Please read carefully

- An increase in the flow rate of water It's just ridiculous to make such a claim. The marketing department came up with this one. You can't let yourself be fooled by As you can see in the picture I attached, the ports on this unit are 1" in size, but they are blocked off completely, leaving only a little hole through which to let the water flow. Can you give me an idea of It is a horribly designed website. Reduces the amount of water that flows through it? Honestly, it worked well for me, but I must admit that it may not be ideal for you. There is a flow limit of around one meter on facets Despite the change, I did notice it on my tub. I do not estimate the change in flow to be more than 5gpm. This had a negative impact on my fill rate, which dropped to about The grade I was getting was Before 8, we were at 8. Can this really be that big a It might be possible, if you use multiple showers at the same time, or a dishwasher and laundry. Again, this is marketed for a large house, so I would expect many users at the same time. It's also important to keep in mind that as the filter fills up, it will restrict airflow even further. When the site is new, there may be no issues, but after one or two months, you may start to see some problems. Please read carefully

- This valve is used to check the water pressure in a system. This wasn't just a matter for me, many people who have left reviews have noted As a result, a check valve has been added to the housing to reduce backflow during filter replacement. As great as this is when you are removing the lower housing, however it may introduce water hammer into the It wasn't a big deal for me since I just removed the check valve from the housing using a small bit of digging. My solution was one I read online that seemed to work for some people and it also worked for me. There's no mention of this issue in the product description, so I didn't know this could be an issue, as well as many others. I may not have purchased it if I were aware of As you'll see on the box, GE has a disclaimer The above may require an expansion tank to be installed (if none is already installed)* * Talk Please read carefully

- The size of the filter or housing is *Moreover, I was initially using a 30 micron filter in addition to what I mentioned above. I believe that if I were to reduce the size to a smaller size, like 5 micro, the flow would also be significantly reduced. As you can see, a 10 inch filter won't do in this case. In this case, the product of GE is not at fault, but the problem is with its size. A house of this size may not be large enough for a large family. There may be variations in your experience, and depending on how dirty your water is, you may need to change your filters quite frequently. In my final analysis I would like you to consider the following In the end, I ended up searching for alternative products after I became dissatisfied with the GE product. There are several brands online that offer full, unrestricted 1 inch ports without a hassle. Some people just put two in parallel in order to increase the flow rate through the filter, but I was still concerned about the amount of fluid that could pass through them. Due to the fact that I would have to replace two sets of filters, I was not interested in doing that. I found a 20-inch filter housing and looked at it. Filters of 20 inches and a full 1 inch port give the system a lot of surface area. That's when I made up my mind. I installed it without any issues and it works perfectly. I like how the flow is! The only thing I wish my device had is a clear housing, but I am happy with the way it is set up. In the end, I bought a Pentek 20" Genuine Big Blue Filter setup in a 1" thread. Amazon has it for $79, so I purchased it there. Although the price is over twenty bucks more than the GE, it is definitely worth the extra money. The text is original and without markings. (I am not associated with Pentek in any way). In addition to the 20 inch housings sold by Sony, there are a number of other brands. The story is a little long, I know. In the case of this product, it is sold to the consumer, who often makes It does work, so I won't say it's a terrible product. Your needs may not be met by it, however. Although, my own recommendation is to spend the extra $20 dollars and get a larger filter with better flow and double the sediment collection capacity if you do decide to install a whole-house filter.

It is nice to have the three-way valve on the top
5/5

I ordered two of these and did not know what to expect. There is a nice mounting bracket included that can be used for either direction of water flow. Also, it is possible to flip the top cover according to the flow of water. The package contains the screws you need to mount it. The top of the filter has a three-way valve that allows you to turn it off, bypass or allow flow through it. Having this feature makes replacement of filters simpler and saves you from having to shut off the water in order to do so. It is also possible to find other manufacturers who make the filter cartridges that go into it. This allows you a greater choice when choosing which filter element It also has a bleed valve on the bottom so air can be purged from it after it has been refilled with air. I'm impressed with the amount of nice features on that This was a very good experience for me.

There is a need to reconsider this filter at GE
3/5

There are a few good features that everyone loves about it It also has a bypass valve that needs to be cleaned. The device is also equipped with a built-in check valve that many people find confusing and annoying. Over the past 11 months, I have spent a lot of time trying to resolve errors that began a few weeks after installing the A crazy banging could be heard coming from the pipes. A new water hammer was installed (it started leaking from the overflow), and a new pressure relief valve on the hot water heater was installed I tried everything but it didn't work. All the faucets were experiencing strange pressure surges. The built-in check valve is to blame for all of this. To dig the valve out of the housing, I used a fix I found on a plumbing site The problem has been Maybe they have changed it since I bought mine a year ago, but if not, they need to remove it from store shelves, or at the very least let people know about the potential hazards.

A water-hammering phenomenon can occur
3/5

As soon as we had this filter system installed in our home, the water hammer and pipe knock started occurring after the first change. The knock goes away as the control lever is set to bypass the filtration system and returns upon setting the lever The plumber said the issue is with the filter, and we will need to install an additional antiwater hammer valve, which will cost We lived in Arizona for a few days before our first filter started to turn orange with trapped sediment As of this writing, the second filter remains white, but it is filtering. Are there any other people suffering from this issue?.

It works very well
5/5

The seller is superb and the price is incredible. I use a 6 micron filter. It does what it's supposed to do. The usual method for cutting and sweating my pipes is to work together. There are no shark bites in any of my products. It is not my intention to oppose My house should be a place of peace of mind when I leave it. I arrive home to find that it has not been This filter works really well on the system, it's a 6 Micron filter. You should always clean the tank after you've filled it, and before you run your softener or other filtration system. You'll need to install before your water tank if it gets backed up. There is a possibility of receiving false readings as well as burning out the pump above the surface or in the ground.
